Boots on, kit bags and extra provisions packed, and everything loaded up for the ride!

A team of 4C volunteers set out from the Orlando office today to assist with the clear-up following .

“Last year we experienced the full brunt of Hurricane Ian in Orlando,” says 4C North America Business Director, Jenna Tuck. “Thankfully, Hurricane Idalia bypassed us, but there are plenty of towns in the region that weren’t so lucky and we wanted to do what we could to help out.”

The volunteers from 4C are currently in Cedar Key, a small coastal town - known as the 'big bend of Florida' - just 2.5 hours from Orlando, that was hit hard just when things were returning to normal after the devastation from last year. At one point around 90% of the town was underwater as over 100 mph winds and torrential rain battered the coast.

“We are really proud that our solutions are used by humanitarian organizations and in emergency response situations, among other things, but sometimes it’s great to get out there and lend a helping hand, particular when it’s in your backyard and you’ve experience it yourself,” added Rija Akbar, HR Manager

On Sunday 23 April, 4C Strategies’ Miles Macdonald joined the Run Army 10km event in Brisbane to raise money for Legacy Australia, a charity dedicated to supporting the families of veterans.

Former British Army Major, Paul Steel MBA is the latest to join the 4C ranks. New UK Military Sales Director, Paul joins us from Leonardo where he held the position of Vice President, Land Logistics & Training Services. Previous to that he’s held senior positions at Lockheed Martin, CAE and Saab

4C is growing. One of the latest recruits to join our Nordic team is Minou Sadeghpour. Minou brings a wealth of experience in crisis management, previously Crisis Management Chief of Staff & Strategy Officer to the Executive Director at Sigtuna Municipality, as well as Crisis Management Expert at the Swedish Prime Minister's Office.

“I’m excited to be joining 4C. I’ve spent 15 years helping complex organizations plan, prepare for, respond to, communicate, and recover from crises as a part of Sweden’s Total Defence Policy, and I’m looking forward to sharing the skills I’ve developed with a broader customer base. It’s also a great opportunity for my personal growth in what is a very friendly working environment with talented, dedicated, and knowledgeable coworkers.”

World and Olympic ice-skating champion Nils van der Poel had a lot of interesting things to say when we asked him about training during an inspirational talk for the entire 4C global team:

“You don’t get to be the best without training hard and identifying ways to improve, and that applies to individuals and organizations. For me it was training five days a week. No training? That was never an option.”

“If you don’t have the analytics on board, you won’t know what you’ve done, how you’re progressing, or where to focus for continued improvement. Having accurate data and knowing what where and how to improve, that’s when real advances can be made.“

“We’re not all Olympians, but we can all excel at what we do - find that better version of ourselves. It’s about finding the best way forward for you, your team and your organization. And who doesn’t want to be better at what they do. Isn’t that the whole purpose?”

Words like these remind us of how important it is to be ready, even when you're at the top of your game. As an organization, it’s important for us to be prepared for tomorrow and to use the data we have to improve today. For you and your business, it’s no different.

We were exceptionally proud to accept the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme - Silver Award last night at the Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire’s Awards Ceremony with Wessex RFCA. 4C’s own Chris Wildman and Chris Smart were there to collect the honours, given to organisations that pledge, demonstrate and advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, sharing common values with the Armed Forces Covenant.

Alongside our Great Place to Work - Sweden award earlier in the year, we're happy to receive recognition of our efforts to make 4C Strategies an outstanding and inclusive place to work, particularly for recruitment from the Armed Forces.
