In Washington State alone, 18 gray whales have stranded as of May 2026. The latest case near Surfside marks the worst early-season total seen in more than 50 years.

The population itself has been cut in half.

The Eastern North Pacific gray whale population has dropped from 27,000 to around 13,000 whales. Newborn calf numbers are now at the lowest level ever documented.

Seven days ago, the young humpback whale disappeared into the vast blue sea, leaving behind the rescue teams and carrying with him the hopes of thousands of people across Europe.

Because somewhere out there, Timmy is doing exactly what he was born to do.
