Well yesterday I had a lady bring two computers to me to check as she let the spammers from India access them. Today she picked up and as we talked I found that she actually lost $52,000.00. Yes $52 thousand

She is around her 80’s and when they called they told her they had her bank fraud department on the phone and that she needed to transfer the money to a diffeeent account to safe guard it

Two different banks are involved and both are trying to get her money back but that will be impossible I believe. So sad

For anyone that has Microsoft Bitlocker on their computer. I recommend that it be turned off. Bitlocker is used to encrypt your hard drive. Unless you have Top Secret data on it. Then it’s not worth having.

If your computer will not boot for some reason. You might not be able to get your data off cause the hard drive cannot be read. You are supposed to be able to log in Microsoft and get the unlock code. But many of my customers cannot retrieve it due to not being on the site

It also slows you down as each time you do something the files have to be decrypted.

For anyone that is building your own desktop. Please be careful with the CPU installation. I have had many desktop that customers attempted to build that destroyed the CPU or motherboard. Case in point I just had one. Look at the motherboard where CPU fits. Those are very small pins and if you look to left mid way you can see damage. Also this customer did not raise the secure holding bar but used a screwdriver to pry the CPU out. Thereby damaging both side of an expensive icore7 CPU.

Not sure how I can drive this into my computer customers heads. But No repeat No creditable company will ever call you about your computer. Just had an elder customer bring her computer over and she said she got an email and clicked on it and inside the email told her that they were shutting her computer down and got her to call. Well she called and they went in her computer then told her to go to Walmart and buy 2 Visa cards loaded with $1000 each and the Indian guy on phone told her she if the cashier ask what they were for to tell them it was a gift. She scratched the back and provided them the numbers.

Then she ask me how much I was going to charge her to clean computer and I told her $2,000

Just updated my Windows 10 to build 1809. This is a full windows 10 update installed. It will be available sometime this month from Microsoft.

Seems all is going ok with the update.
