New rules favoring low-cost bids have opened the door for more wireless ISPs, with 11.7% of eligible locations already awarded to FWA providers. While some states stick with fiber, others are embracing a tech mix. 📊

But it’s not simple, tribal consent, like in Oklahoma, can override BEAD rules. And with NTIA still reviewing proposals, the final broadband map is far from settled.

Lighting up homes, campuses, and edge locations with FWA is only half the equation. The real customer experience hinges on what happens after the signal hits the tower: how quickly and efficiently that traffic reaches the internet and cloud.

That’s where proximity to an Internet Exchange (IX) like Omaha IX, right inside 1623 Farnam, makes all the difference.
Here’s why:
🔁 Fewer hops, faster apps
🔌 Carrier choice, no truck rolls
⚙️ Streamlined operations

Think of an IX-rich carrier hotel as the “neighborhood” of the internet. Locating your FWA backhaul here means lower latency, better failover, and scalable performance—without touching your RAN.

Fixed wireless access (FWA) is one of the fastest ways to light up homes, MDUs, campuses, and edge locations, especially where fiber builds are slow or expensive. But great radio performance is only half the story. The customer experience ultimately rides on fixed wireless backhaul: how quickly and....

Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) is one of the fastest ways to connect homes, MDUs, campuses, and edge locations; especially where fiber builds are slow or costly. But great radio performance is only half the story.

The real differentiator? Backhaul.

That’s where proximity to a major internet exchange (IX) inside a carrier hotel—like Omaha IX at 1623 Farnam—changes the game. From fewer hops and lower latency to faster turn-ups and cloud adjacency, anchoring your FWA backhaul at the IX unlocks performance, scale, and operational agility.
