Today, Creighton University is mostly known for its basketball program, but between 1900-1942, the school also had a team on the gridiron.

Bluejay Football may have been short-lived in hindsight, but in 1924, the team was thriving enough that the university built a stadium. And when it came to the electrical work, Creighton chose Miller Electric.

While our partnership with the university would continue into the new millennium, CU's football team ended after going on hiatus in 1942 due to World War II and never resuming after it.

While football was no longer played, the university used the stadium to host track competitions, ROTC drills, rodeos as well as religious and community events until it was demolished in 1966.

While examples of our early work with the stadium no longer exist, Miller Electric is proud to have partnered with Creighton University as far back as the 1920s and more recently on projects such as the new Bluejay softball stadium, Creighton Dental School and the Heider College of Business.

A watt is the standard international unit of power. It measures the rate at which energy is transferred, used or generated. But do you know who the watt is named after?
Answer: James Watt

James Watt (1736-1819) was a Scottish inventor who is known for greatly improving the efficiency of the steam engine and is credited with the creation of horsepower, another unit of measurement for power.

Miller Electric recently partnered with Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium to deliver the advanced electrical systems for the new Bill and Berniece Grewcock Animal Hospital.

A key feature of this project is the zoo’s first-ever CT scanner. To support its significant power demands and sensitive technology, our team designed and installed:

✅ Heavy-duty, dedicated electrical circuits to handle its massive power demands
✅ Specific cable pathways between the procedure, control and computer rooms
✅ Systems that stay compliant with strict healthcare codes

From complex new facilities to day-to-day maintenance, Miller Electric is proud to be the trusted electrical partner keeping the zoo’s operations running smoothly.

At Miller Electric, our TEGG services aren’t just a checklist of inspections — they’re a true partnership with our clients.

By combining advanced electrical testing, preventive maintenance and detailed reporting, we're proud to keep our customers’ businesses running smoothly and safely.

Here’s what Dragan Jajcanin, Operations Manager at Cushman & Wakefield, had to say about working with our TEGG team:

“I oversee multiple Fiserv buildings across several states, and Miller Electric stands out as a true partner. Our relationship with them and the TEGG team really couldn’t be better. They make complex work feel easy and are always willing to make it work, whether we're dealing with tight schedules, holidays or major shutdowns. Everything is done on time and it’s all done properly, never pushed back. Their reports are professional, their recommendations are clearly written and they make it easy for us to execute. There’s literally nothing more I could wish for and nothing we’d want to change. Miller Electric’s TEGG team supports our facilities so well that I wish they could take over all of our sites. If they had coverage in every state where we operate, it would be a done deal. That’s how highly we think of them.”

Why is summer a great time to have your electrical systems inspected?

The simple answer is that your electrical systems are at an increased risk for an outage due to the summer weather and especially its heat.

The increased power usage to accommodate air conditioning and other cooling systems can reveal hidden electrical problems that can lead to a loss of power and even potentially a fire. At the same time, having outdated equipment can make repairs more difficult after a severe storm causes a power outage.

Having your system inspected and preventative maintenance performed by Miller Electric can avert some of this risk. A planned outage is always better than an unexpected one.

At Miller Electric, safety is our top priority, and it starts long before we step onto a jobsite. That's why the Miller team has embraced prefabrication.

Our prefab workshop allows us to build components off-site in a controlled environment before they’re installed in the field. Doing so cuts down on the need for complex on-site assembly and reduces potential hazards by streamlining the work and making the jobsite more predictable.

It's less chaos, more control and a safer jobsite for our team.

Still Standing – Offutt Air Force Base's Exchange and Fire Station

In 2006, Miller Electric was selected to construct the electrical systems for two key facilities at Offutt Air Force Base: a new fire station and the mini-mall base exchange.

The fire house is one of only two on the base and plays a critical role in protecting service members, their families and the military facilities.

The Base Exchange offers everyday essentials — from groceries and furniture to fuel and haircuts — while its profits go back to the service members through contributions to Offutt’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation Funds.

At Miller Electric, we’re proud to have been trusted with the infrastructure that keeps our local military community safe as well as the store that many service members rely on for their groceries, clothing and other necessities.

At Miller Electric, we're proud to be certified to offer TEGG services.

What is TEGG? A preventative electrical maintenance program designed to prevent unplanned downtime and protect employees from dangerous hazards.

At Miller Electric, we consider the age of your equipment and the complexity of your electrical distribution systems to tailor one of four available warranty programs to your needs and budget.
