Long before downtown Omaha’s skyline looked the way it does today, the Omaha Building stood at 17th and Farnam Streets as a symbol of the city’s growth and ambition.

Originally opened in 1889 as the New York Life Building, the landmark became the Omaha Building in 1909 after being purchased by Omaha National Bank. Over the decades, it has evolved, been renovated and even faced the possibility of demolition. But more than 135 years later, it still stands as an enduring piece of Omaha’s history.

There’s something fitting about Miller Electric being part of the story of a building with that kind of staying power.

Founded by Henry Miller in 1912, Miller Electric has spent more than a century helping build, power and maintain the city we call home. The Omaha Building is one of many historic Omaha landmarks that has been part of that story.

These suits help keep our employees safe when facing arc flashes — which can reach temperatures hotter than the sun. They are designed to withstand an arc flash's extreme temperatures, explosive pressure, UV and infrared radiation and molten metal shrapnel.
