Scam emails are getting harder to spot.

They do not always have bad spelling or obvious mistakes anymore. Some look completely legitimate and may appear to come from a vendor, coworker or company you already know.

Before clicking a link, opening an attachment or sending payment information, take a second look. Check the sender’s email address, confirm unusual requests by phone and make sure your accounts are protected with multi-factor authentication.

A few simple precautions can prevent a major problem.

🚨 Microsoft 365 Users: Watch Out for This New Scam

The FBI recently warned about a phishing scam targeting Microsoft 365 users — including Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive.

Here’s what makes this one dangerous:

Scammers may send an email that looks like it comes from Microsoft or a trusted file-sharing service. The email gives you a short code and tells you to enter it on a real Microsoft verification page.

The page may be real — but the code is not yours.

By entering that code, you could accidentally give the scammer access to your Microsoft 365 account without giving them your password.

How to protect yourself:

✅ Never enter a Microsoft code unless you started the login yourself
✅ Be suspicious of unexpected emails asking you to verify or enter a code
✅ Do not click links from random file-sharing or Microsoft-style emails
✅ Report anything suspicious before interacting with it

Small businesses are often targeted because one compromised email account can lead to stolen files, fake invoices, and major headaches.
