Very often a question arises: What is design? There are multiple ways to answer this as the word "design" is a compound word with roots that mean "to sign" and "to delimit." Designers are invested in the simplification of life and the objects that we utilize in the everyday. When sets of objects or ideas have intrinsic meaning it is difficult to reinvent them for utility in a world that is rapidly changing and morphing. Good designers do not try to reinvent the wheel. Instead, they attempt to erase boundaries while addressing the affordances that are inherent in an object. Good designers will refurbish what is useful and relevant in the presence of a new paradigm.
