There have been a lot of highlights on this trip: Witnessing the beauty of creative women from all over the world, creating my first block print, going for a ride on an old-timey sail boat, seeing new plants in nature, making new friends, seeing beautiful art and architecture, and experiencing both a rural area and the city of Lisbon in Portugal. I’m feeling grateful and excited to spend this week exploring more of this amazing place with my family.

I had the best week last week Art Sisters Retreat ❤️‍🔥 There were so many wonderful moments and I met so many beautiful, creative women from all over the world. Instead of telling you about all the wonderful things we did, I’ll focus on how the week made me feel.

So much love and preparation went into this retreat and I felt supported in the safe space that was created. I left feeling inspired and full of wonder for all the beauty in the world and other like minded creative souls.

Thank you to everyone that helped make the week possible, including my family, Elizabeth’s fantastic team, and all the women who attended. It was kismet and magical ✨✨✨

I’m still experimenting with this pattern for as it needs a few tweaks to be ready. But since I’m away in Portugal, I wanted to go ahead and post what I have so far, for the prompt sunflower & grasshopper. There’s a little bird in there too 🌻☀️

Last year for Bugs in Bloom, I was more bug focused than blooms. So this year I am switching it up and making the florals the stars of the show. There is a little beetle (ladybird) in here though, on this beautiful cosmo, it’s just tiny, as it would be in nature.

I have been creating these latest patterns with wallpaper and fabric in mind. Slowly building my next collection. I’m finding this work very satisfying and having fun designing for wallpaper meant to live in spaces.

I’m getting ready for a trip to Portugal for vacation and an artist retreat at the end of May. I’ve been working through a lot this year like new directions with my work, making analog work, and inner work as well.

My word of the year is “alignment” and with Uranus finally out of alignment with Ta**us, I am starting to feel like the universe is holding me again. By the end of the year I hope to be aligned AF! 😂

Florence and the Machine played this song at the show I took my son to on Friday night and the lyrics are so hauntingly beautiful. I guess she hadn’t played it live in years.

Do you prefer the light mint version or moodier green?

Happy Mother’s Day to the mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, chosen mothers, mentors, and nurturers. To the ones raising children, longing for children, grieving mothers, missing children, healing from complicated relationships, or building family in their own way.

Today can feel joyful, tender, heavy, beautiful, lonely, or all of it at once. However this day meets you, I hope you feel held by the people, memories, and love that have shaped you.

Family is not always one story; sometimes it’s the one we’re born into, and sometimes it’s the one we lovingly create for ourselves. 💛
