STOP. Security Tracking www.stoptheft.com
Secure, Prevent, Track, Recover! Products to protect all your computers, laptops, and mobile devices. The U.S.

Our philosophy is that security does not have to be difficult or expensive and STOP products are designed to provide our clients with the peace of mind that true security brings, for a price that cannot be matched. We understand that because portable electronic devices are specifically designed to travel with us, they are uniquely vulnerable to loss or theft. We also know that beyond the physical

device, the data they hold can be so important that loss or unwanted exposure could be catastrophic. We believe that security should begin with an understanding of how devices are deployed, backed by a strong deterrence, tracking, and finally eletronic protection of data. In combination, from asset management and deterrence, to tracking and data security, STOP Products are the perfect blend of comprehensive protection and cost-effectiveness. headquarters of STOP are located in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Property management teams keep a lot moving at once. Leasing updates, inspection notes, maintenance schedules, tenant communication, and unit records often travel with them from office to property and back again. Tablets and laptops have become part of that daily workflow, especially for teams working across multiple buildings or communities.

Because the job is so mobile, devices are often used in hallways, model units, front offices, maintenance areas, and parked vehicles between stops. That pace makes organization especially important. A misplaced tablet can slow down scheduling, interrupt communication, and create unnecessary stress around the information stored inside.

For property managers, leasing agents, and maintenance coordinators, keeping track of devices is part of keeping operations steady. The smoother the system behind the scenes, the easier it is to stay focused on the people and properties they support every day. 🏢💻

Technology supports work in more places than ever, from offices and classrooms to field sites, farms, and outdoor workspaces. When laptops and tablets travel beyond traditional desks, keeping track of them becomes even more important.

A device used in the field may carry schedules, inventory records, customer information, research notes, or daily operations that keep work moving. Protecting that equipment helps reduce disruption, avoid unnecessary replacements, and keep valuable tools in use longer.

Sustainability means making better use of what we already have. When devices stay accounted for, protected, and recoverable, organizations can reduce waste while supporting the people who rely on their technology wherever the work takes them. 🌱💻

A gentleman reached out to STOP after purchasing a used HP Chromebook on Walmart.com and noticing it still had a STOP Security Tag attached. Wanting to be sure the device was free and clear, he contacted us to verify its status.

Our team confirmed that the Chromebook had been properly decommissioned and was no longer owned by the school district. That quick check provided peace of mind and helped confirm the purchase was legitimate.

Sometimes, a simple verification is all it takes to bring clarity and confidence to a device’s next chapter. 💻✅

Strong partnerships help protection start earlier.

STOP works with leading technology manufacturers, resellers, and distributors to make device security part of the conversation from the very beginning. Through coordination with brands like Apple, Dell, and HP, organizations can have STOP installed at the factory on new equipment, helping support consistency, accountability, and protection from day one.

This kind of collaboration makes it easier for schools, businesses, healthcare systems, and other organizations to build security into their purchasing process instead of treating it as an afterthought. It is a practical way to strengthen equipment protection while supporting long-term asset management across the devices teams rely on every day. 💻🔒

A strong IT asset management system gives businesses more than a list of devices. It creates a clear, searchable record of what equipment is in circulation, who is using it, where it is located, and what condition it is in at any given time.

When details like STOP ID, asset tag, serial number, user, department, location, and status are organized in one place, day-to-day oversight becomes much easier. Teams can quickly confirm ownership, track assigned equipment, manage loaners, and reduce the confusion that often happens when devices move between employees, offices, or departments.

For small and midsized businesses, that kind of visibility matters. It supports smoother onboarding, better accountability, faster internal follow-up, and more confidence in the systems keeping operations organized behind the scenes.

Good asset management is not only about tracking inventory. It is about staying connected to the tools your team depends on every day. 💻📋

When theft becomes a recurring problem, even a simple change in visibility can make a measurable difference.

This client turned to STOP after experiencing laptop thefts in their offices and added Security Plates to 2,000 devices with the hope of making them less likely to be taken. Soon after implementation, their theft rate dropped to zero.

That kind of outcome speaks to the power of a clear, visible deterrent. It is not only about protecting equipment, but also about creating a workplace environment where accountability is easier to maintain and costly disruptions are less likely to happen. 💻🔒

A strong password today can become a weak point over time, especially if it has been reused, shared, saved across old devices, or exposed in a data breach.

That is why changing your password every 90 days can be a smart security habit. It gives you a regular opportunity to replace outdated credentials, close off access from old logins, and make sure each important account is protected by something strong, unique, and difficult to guess.

Password updates work best when they are intentional. Avoid small changes like adding a new number at the end, and instead create a fresh password or passphrase that is longer, stronger, and used for that account only. Adding multi-factor authentication gives your accounts another layer of protection beyond the password itself.

Good security depends on both access and awareness. Change passwords regularly, strengthen anything risky, and stay mindful of the devices connected to your accounts.

FAQ #1: What makes STOP Theft unique?

STOP stands apart because it brings together theft deterrence, equipment recovery, and asset management in one system. Instead of serving as a simple label, it helps organizations protect devices, track them more effectively, and respond with greater confidence if something goes missing.

That broader approach makes it a practical choice for schools, businesses, healthcare systems, and other organizations managing valuable equipment across multiple environments. It supports day-to-day accountability while also strengthening recovery efforts when the unexpected happens.

STOP also features its patented chemically etched “Stolen Property” tattoo, which remains behind if the plate is removed. That added layer of visibility gives devices a more permanent form of identification and helps set the system apart from standard asset tags.

Most organizations already use asset tags. They help with inventory lists, budgeting, and internal tracking across departments. On paper, that system works well for audits and recordkeeping.

The problem shows up outside the spreadsheet. Basic stickers can be peeled off, scratched out, or covered in seconds. A barcode or serial number may identify equipment internally, but it doesn’t discourage someone from taking it, and it doesn’t clearly signal ownership in a resale environment.

Theft prevention requires visibility and accountability, not just labeling. Tags that are permanently bonded and traceable communicate that a device is registered and tied to an owner. If removal leaves a visible mark, it changes the equation. The device becomes harder to resell and easier to question.

Inventory control is administrative. Deterrence is behavioral.

When protecting laptops and mobile devices, the goal isn’t simply knowing what you had, it’s increasing the likelihood that what you invest in stays with you. 💻🔒

World Password Day is a reminder that password strength has a lot to do with length.

Longer passwords create more possible combinations, which is why they’re harder to guess or crack. In cybersecurity, this is often connected to bits of entropy, or how unpredictable a password is. The more unpredictable it is, the stronger it becomes.

That’s also why passphrases can be a practical choice. A longer phrase made with unrelated words, numbers, or symbols can be easier to remember than a random string while still giving your password more strength.

The same idea applies to security as a whole: the more layers you have, the harder you are to target. Strong passwords help protect access to your device, while physical security helps protect the device itself.
