Northborough Town Common

It is .28 acres, and there are a few parcels around it that could possibly be purchased in the future. My question is to you, the residents: Would you like to see green space in the downtown (lawn and benches? possibly a town common, combined with the existing Civil War Memorial parcel, if the town could acquire additional lots?) or do you think the town should sell it and let it be developed? The

town acquired it due to unpaid taxes so the only cost would be the property taxes, (approximately $6450/yr), the cost to demolish the building, fill the hole in the basement, and plant grass. We think it’s a once in a lifetime chance to maintain some green space in the downtown….What do you think? We feel that, if the residents don’t voice an opinion it will most likely be sold at auction for development. What you would like to see as part of our downtown? Please let us know.
