Wi-Fi vs. Ethernet
For gaming, video calls, or working from home, a wired Ethernet connection is usually faster and more reliable than Wi-Fi.
Choosing between a wireless and wired connection directly impacts your digital experience based on three main factors:
- Latency and Ping: Wi-Fi signals travel through the air and take longer to process, causing higher latency. Ethernet provides a direct physical path, reducing data travel time to a bare minimum.
- Signal Interference: Wireless signals degrade when passing through walls, floors, and furniture. They also compete with electronic devices like microwaves, baby monitors, and neighboring Wi-Fi networks.
- Bandwidth Consistency: Wi-Fi bandwidth is shared dynamically among every phone, tablet, and smart device in your home. Ethernet delivers a dedicated, unshared pipe of data straight to your machine.
