"I was able to fit in the DDJ-FLX10 by cutting 1/2" of foam on the front, and 1 inch in the rear. Fits perfectly. Highly recommended."

Worth knowing: the foam is the adjustable part. If your controller is close in size but not identical, a sharp blade and careful measuring gets you a custom fit — and you end up with a case cut for your gear rather than a generic one.

Measure first, cut slow, cut less than you think. You can always take more off.

🔊 Your deck does not get damaged at the gig. It gets damaged in the van.

Loose gear in the back of a hatchback takes more abuse in forty minutes of driving than it does in a four hour set. Vibration walks screws loose, one hard stop sends the tonearm somewhere it was never meant to go, and a padded slip bag does nothing about either one.

A review on our Amazon store for the Harmony HCGC212C Rolling Guitar Amp Case — with a tip in it worth stealing.

A universal case has to fit a lot of different amps, which means it won't be a glove fit for any one of them. His fix: a cheap memory foam topper, cut to pad out the gap so his combo sits snug and doesn't shift in transit. Ten minutes and a few dollars.

He was fair about it too: "I would not expect the case company to be able to accommodate for all amp formats."

That's the trade with universal — it fits almost everything, and a little foam makes it fit yours. Snug is the whole point. A case that lets gear move in the van isn't protecting it.

This is the thing about a rack-standard flight case: it's really just a rugged, portable, road-ready enclosure with standard mounting. What you put in it is up to you. Mixers, controllers, patch bays, power distros — or a lighting control panel you built yourself.

The case doesn't care. It just has to survive the van.
