Following Dish's lead, only about 10 years later, DirecTv just announced their customers no longer are forced to take the local channels through them. In doing this you can call DirecTv and have them drop the local channels and save $12/mo. This is great news for people who already have an antenna or are thinking of getting one.

And I'm back, I think. Shout out to Corey Fortin for pointing me toward the Vermont State Attorneys General Consumer Meditation page to crack the whip on Facebook to give me this page back, which FB claimed to have disabled permanently with no chance of appeal, for no discernable reason. Two weeks of tail chasing, then one contact with the AG and FB magically finds the irretrievable page in about 24 hours. More importantly it gets me access back to my business page, Antenna Man Inc

Just because our ads say no antennas needed for our Internet service, doesn’t mean using one won’t boost the signal. The plastic square on top is a Mimo4x4 Internet antenna, when used with a channel aggregating modem has upped the speed of the Internet upwards of 5x in places, in others, not so much, over our standard modem with no antenna. The bigger antenna below is for TV. This customer got 28 free channels, 25 from the US and 3 from Canada.

The customer was sick of only getting half a dozen channels that constantly cut out with their Walmart “antenna”, so we replaced it with a real antenna and now they get 28 channels with rock solid signal. YMMV.

Sometimes higher isn't better. The signal at this customer's was much stronger where we mounted down low, than what we tested at the edge of the roof over 10' above.
