It's been a minute since I've posted... Here's why.

6 months ago, I started working my business full time. Having it be my main source of income and needing it to support me and my 3 kids meant failure wasn't an option. I realized that if I wanted this business to take care of me, I needed to start taking care of it.

For the last 3 months, I have been going through my current operations with a fine-tooth comb, figuring out what was working and what wasn't.
.....Needless to say, there were A LOT of things I needed to work on.....

- My website hadn't been updated in almost two years.
- My services list was starting to look like a small novel.
- I wrote my content so it was all about me and the business, not the problems I could help solve.
- I didn't communicate my value or what set me apart from my competitors.
- I struggled with clearly explaining what my business actually did for people.
- I didn't have a system in place to streamline and organize things so that actual growth could happen.

These last 6 months have been filled with 12-16 hour days, what seems like a lifetime of continuing education, and a heck of a lot of strategizing, editing, and building a systematic foundation from the bottom up.

The truth.....

The long days, continued education, and cycle of analyzing, strategizing, building, re-evaluating, then starting all over again aren't anywhere near over.

But I know things will get faster and the process will get smoother each time.

When I started this business 3 years ago, I was building websites, creating marketing and social media content, helping create brands, and improving the online searchability of businesses and nonprofits.....
Today, I'm helping businesses and nonprofits create a high-value, authentic online presence that connects all the pieces and brings them real visibility, real sales, and real growth!

The biggest thing I've learned through all of this.... Sometimes being stuck doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. You may have simply outgrown the way you're doing it.

Until this year, I've treated NW Summit as a side hustle.

Since January, I've been working behind the scenes taking courses, refining my services, creating new client systems, clarifying my messaging, and reimagining the future of my business. There have been long days, late nights, and more brainstorming sessions than I can count, and honestly, there's still so much more I want to build.

2026 has been about turning NW Summit into what I've always envisioned: a support system that helps small businesses and nonprofits build a stronger foundation for success.

Small businesses and nonprofits are the heartbeat of our communities. They create jobs, provide services, support local causes, and bring people together. They deserve marketing, websites, and strategies that help them be seen, trusted, and chosen.

With work taking me out to the 20th annual Forest Expo for Priest Community Forest Connection, volunteering for end of the year field trips, kids’ sports, graduations, and school celebrations, it’s weeks like this that make me so grateful to have a business where my office can be anywhere the wifi is and amazing clients that understand the importance of a healthy work life balance.

One of the biggest reasons I started NW Summit was to build something that not only supports small businesses and nonprofits, but also supports a life where community, family, and showing up for the important moments still matter.

Even though this is a fun little challenge to test your wilderness ID skills, the truth is invasive species are a very real issue across the Northwest. From roadsides and trails to forests, waterways, and public lands, these plants can spread aggressively and push out native species that wildlife and ecosystems depend on.

Some may look beautiful at first glance, but many of them can:
• outcompete native plants
• increase wildfire risks
• damage habitats
• impact recreation, agriculture, and waterways
• spread incredibly fast if left unmanaged
