Meet Herberth! Underemployed and struggling with work-life balance, he was determined to make a change by pivoting into tech.

💻 The path wasn’t easy. Enrolling in Per Scholas Newark’s Cybersecurity training, allowed Herberth to dive into a new field, working hard to master technical skills and build a two-year career/life plan, including buying a house!

🏆 Hard work pays off! After graduating, Herberth secured an apprenticeship at Barclays, leading to his current role as a Global Payments Analyst. Now, he enjoys a fulfilling career, financial security, and new opportunities like travel and continuous learning.

🏠 Today, Herberth is living his dream—hitting career milestones and shopping for a new home. He even signed up for a Per Scholas alumni course in UX Design to keep growing.

Meet our alumni, Robert! He took the Cybersecurity course at Per Scholas Newark, which helped prepare him to obtain his CompTIA CySA+ certification. Before attending Per Scholas, Robert was a production assistant, working on TV shows. His work suffered due to the writer’s strike, and after hearing about the high-quality, no-cost tech training that Per Scholas offered, he made the bold decision to pursue a new career in tech. Meet Andre Diaz, a graduate of Per Scholas Newark's Cybersecurity! Andre had experience working in IT data center support but wanted to gain new skills and advance his career, and was impressed by all that the Per Scholas’ courses offered.

Andre gained a lot from the course, and he believes that the training offered at Per Scholas — which contains a combination of hard technical skills and “soft skills” like networking, interviewing, professional development, and more — prepares students well for entry or advancement in the tech field, making them attractive candidates for employers.
