Has your board ever participated in a cybersecurity incident response tabletop exercise?

Many board directors haven't. Yet when a significant cyber incident occurs, the board is expected to provide oversight, make critical decisions, and help guide the organization through the crisis.

I had participated on a panel with the Private Directors Association (PDA) and KPMG where we conducted a board level tabletop exercise. The feedback from directors was unanimous. They shared that the experience gave them a much better understanding of their role and responsibilities before facing a real world event.

At Clarus Tech Partners, we facilitate tabletop exercises with organizations as part of cybersecurity readiness, SOC 2, and other compliance initiatives.

We have also incorporated a board specific tabletop exercise into the Clarus Learn Board Cybersecurity Governance Program, along with practical resources curated for directors, including governance checklists, M&A due diligence guidance, AI governance insights, and other tools that support effective board oversight.

A tabletop exercise is not about testing technical skills. It is about helping directors ask better questions, make informed governance decisions, and respond with confidence when it matters most.

Has your board conducted a cybersecurity tabletop exercise? What was your biggest takeaway?

I am truly grateful to receive the Rising Star Award at the TechWomen4Boards Gala last night at The Caledonian Club in London!

What made the evening even more meaningful was being surrounded by so many inspiring women, and men, who are making a difference through innovation, leadership, and service.

This recognition reinforces why I founded Clarus Learn: to help board directors and executives strengthen their governance capabilities, ask the right questions, make informed decisions, and shift from a reactive to a proactive approach to cybersecurity, AI, and data privacy.

A heartfelt thank you to Zana Aston EMBA and the entire TechWomen4Boards community for such a memorable evening. It was a privilege to hear so many inspiring stories and connect with exceptional leaders and I am grateful to be part of a community that is empowering more women to lead, serve on boards, and shape the future.

Here's to continuing to educate, empower, and strengthen board leadership.

I'm honored to be attending the TechWomen4Boards Gala Dinner on 30th of June at The Caledonian Club in London and grateful to be nominated for a leadership award.

Education has always been a driving force in my personal and professional growth. As the Founder and CEO of Clarus Tech Partners, Inc. and Clarus Learn, and through my work, I saw a critical gap in cybersecurity awareness among executive teams and boards. Too often, organizations underestimated their exposure to cyber threats, believing, "It won't happen to us."

That insight led me to create Clarus Learn, a platform designed to help board directors and business leaders strengthen cybersecurity governance, better understand their responsibilities, and confidently oversee cyber, data privacy, and AI risks.

I look forward to celebrating alongside so many inspiring women in technology leadership, including Zana Aston, Kristen Anderson, and Hedwige Nuyens, and engaging in meaningful conversations about innovation, governance, and the future of leadership.

Here is the revised text: I'm still feeling the energy and inspiration from attending the Global Summit of Women 2026 in Istanbul, TĂĽrkiye.

Held annually for 35+ years, the Global Summit of Women brings together over 1,000 women leaders, CEOs and executives, entrepreneurs, business NGOs and government officials from more than 60 countries under the common vision of dramatically expanding women.

My sincere thanks to Irene Natividad for bringing together an extraordinary community of leaders from around the world committed to advancing innovation, leadership, and opportunity.

One theme resonated throughout the Summit: effective leadership today requires more than vision. It requires preparedness, accountability, and the courage to navigate an increasingly complex world.

Grateful for the insightful discussions, new connections, reconnections and shared commitment to empowering women leaders and strengthening the future of global leadership.

Great connecting with you David Spitulnik over a Sunday lunch in Chicago!

David recently completed our Board of Directors Cybersecurity Governance Program and brings thoughtful leadership across the board ecosystem. He currently serves as Chair of the Youth Job Center, is a board member for a wealth management company, and mentors through the Private Directors Association’s Board Governance Program.

David told me that he quickly put the learning into action! In a recent board meeting, David led the conversation on cybersecurity and leveraged insights from the program to help renegotiate the organization’s cybersecurity insurance. In his testimonial on our website, he had shared that he found the program both timely and highly actionable.

One breach is all it takes to disrupt operations, damage your reputation, and put your entire business at risk. Cybersecurity is no longer a technical issue. It is a leadership mandate that sits squarely with the board and executive team. Organizations that treat cyber risk as a strategic priority build resilience, while those that delegate it expose themselves to financial, regulatory compliance, legal, operational, and reputational fallout.

Thank you to European Women on Boards (EWOB) for hosting this excellent members networking event. It was a pleasure to lead and moderate our conversation with Loraine Phillips and Gamze Gökçen Pilevne on cybersecurity especially as this topic becomes increasingly critical for board directors to meet their fiduciary duties, protect the organizations they serve on, and address global regulatory compliance requirements.
