With the World Cup in full swing, here’s a great little design story about the evolution of the U.S. Men’s National Team crest.
What I love about this is that it shows how a logo is never just a logo. The USMNT mark has shifted along with the team’s place in the culture, from a more literal soccer badge to a cleaner, more confident national identity. The current crest strips away the soccer ball and extra decoration, leaving something simpler, stronger, and more recognizable.
A good reminder that brand identity is often a reflection of where an organization has been, and sometimes, where it is trying to go next.
Interesting read for anyone who loves sports, design, or the way visual identity tells a bigger story.
