Graphic designers aren’t just underpaid—we’re being structurally undervalued, with the base salaries in most job listings 2-3 times below our market value. And that's being conservative!

After analyzing hundreds of verified job postings, RGD reports, and Ontario’s real cost of living, I built a rock-solid data-driven salary framework that shows what fair compensation should look like in 2026, as well as how to apply it outside of Canada. It's lengthy, but well worth checking out.

This isn’t about “aspirational” salaries. It’s about economic reality, sustainability, and protecting the profession from a race to the bottom.

If your job requires post-secondary education and specialized skills, you shouldn’t qualify for low-income tax credits. The industry needs higher standards—and it starts with designers refusing undervalued offers and negotiating with data, not fear.

This artwork is both a memorial and a dark caution. It’s a reminder that silencing voices doesn’t end conflict — it only buries it until it explodes. Dialogue isn’t a weakness. It’s the last defence against violence.
