Delta Post. Today I honor a topic we as musicians, venue owners, workers, nightlife mgmt./crews that support our musicians - I honor the families we support when no one is looking - whether that be our blood or chosen family, what we do in the life of our music related careers, we do to honor and support them. Today I honor the human I helped raise up in NYC. A diverse youth, who identifies and represents, since a young age, the q***r and educationally emerging NYC graduating population from HS we have grown to love and help nurture in NYC. This year, this human, graduating with a 3.9 GPA after experiencing overwhelming adversity standing strong as the human that deserves to be seen and supported. I celebrate this human accomplishment.
Why post this KiMPRiNT? This is your personal life, you might be asking yourself. The reason I post this is because our human experiences matter. As musicians and supporters of musicians in our experienced work/careers, we so often present our love and dedication for our passion in music for first our dreams and goals, and then most importantly for those who surround us with love and support. When you see us on stage, or supporting the music scene, there is so much more that we are standing there for; we stand there because music heals the pain, and it’s music that has taught us as communities how to come together and how to make a difference in the lives that matter to us most. IMPRNT and IMPRINTNYC recognize and are on a mission not to just support the musician but to recognize that they are attached so very often to a beautiful life, family and community that they prioritize so often over everything else. We are aiming in building our companies that support this mission. That support giving musicians and music industry professionals the time, the income support and the life of freedom in support that makes this pursuit in living a real, fully self determined of time commitment life in the music industry possible. Today we honor those who we do this for every day. Join me in celebrating those who have journeyed with us along the way, whether it’s your spouses, partners, family members or chosen family/friends.
