San Francisco 1985: self portrait on a copy machine with art I made from discarded plastic toys. A decade before the movie Toy Story came out and LONG before smart phone I was obsessed with collecting broken and discarded toys and making sculptures out of them and examining my visual image as a form of self-reflection.

Sculpture in front is over ten years old, it was shown at the Con Artist Collective on the LES in 2015, yet the issue it’s about still seems lost on most. Change is hard. Now’s a great time to slow down your consumption and urge lawmakers to take action to regulate the floodgate of plastics and their very serious toxins. (Including in the explosion of Christmas decorations in big box stores right now.)
