Let's change things up a bit around here this week and talk about print material.

Before you all comment with "print is dead", hear us out 🗣

Did you know there have been neuroscience studies done on print vs. digital? The studies showed that our brains actually prefer paper-based content.

Yup, that's right. A Temple University study used fMRI scans to compare print and digital ads. They found that print had better outcomes than digital for engagement, brand recall, emotional reaction and willingness to purchase. 🤯

We're going to say print is certainly NOT dead. There is science to prove it!

So you buy that special tea online, and it takes days to receive it. Until you get a big box at the door and ask yourself: what is this? 🤔

You open the box, and boom! The two packs of tea you bought.

And with bubble wrap! Well, we didn't know tea packs were so fragile. 😅

Anyway, we know a brand that makes bubble wrap alternatives, EcoEnclose. They are experts in:

- Corrugated Bubble
- GreenWrap
- Indented Kraft Paper

The corrugated bubble is made from shredded-corrugated, typically made out of the unusable portion of corrugated sheets after they are cut into shipping boxes. Corrugated Bubble is 100% recycled (95% post-consumer), recyclable & compostable.

GreenWrap has two layers, a white tissue paper/liner layer & an outer layer that comes in a brown or white option. The dispenser is used to expand the outer layer of the GreenWrap, giving it a cushion & a unique texture & look. When you expand GreenWrap fully, you should get at least 1/4" of paper-based protection, & like traditional bubble wrap, you can always wrap your items more than once for double protection.

This Indented Kraft Paper has ridges & bumps across it, adding texture & a small amount of cushioning. If you are wrapping something that needs a small level of cushioning (like 1 or 2oz glass bottles of essential oils), indented kraft paper can be a good option.

That’s really the only explanation we can think of when we see this picture.

And if that wasn’t enough, they fill the box with more waste! Extra paper? Bubble wrap? All that, for THAT??? Really mind-blowing. 🤯

Sephora stands for sustainability? OK. This looks like the opposite of protecting our planet.

Today we are because we have a winner for the best beer packaging!

SaltWater Brewery gets the first place position on our podium.🏆

SaltWater uses eco six-pack rings made of wheat and barley. E6PR (makers of the rings) designed them to replace the harmful plastic ones that the sea turtles get tangled with and eat in the ocean.

The rings compost within a few days. On open land and in the ocean, the rings decompose in a few weeks. The rings are not recommended for consumption, but animals can safely eat them.

Mother nature and marine life want to give a big thanks to them for that! 🙌🏽

And as a consumer, I would definitely prefer a beer where I can enjoy it with peace of mind knowing that the environment is safe.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5… 5lbs of Jelly Belly packaged INDIVIDUALLY.

Yes you read that right. Each jelly bean in its own wrapper. 🤯

This is a packaging NO-NO! 🚫

Our grandmas would laugh if they see this. Sometimes it would be better to just go back to the basics.

Not to mention that the packaging counts for 15% or so of the mass so whoever ordered it didn’t REALLY get 5lbs of candy.

We can’t say enough how problematic this is for the environment, and it doesn’t make sense at all.

Maybe the only good point is that the Jelly Bellys will stay clean in the kid’s pockets. 😂

We need to take food packaging waste seriously.

Do you know that the government pays millions every year to manage waste? Yes, the taxes that you pay are literally going to the trash. 🚮

Plus, food packaging corresponds to one-third of all trash in the world.

So obviously we need to rethink food packaging.

Take this picture for example. Do we REALLY need individual packaging for bananas? 🤔

Not only does a banana already come with its own natural “packaging”, but packaging them this way also makes fruits ripen faster. Fruit releases gas as it ripens, and when they are packaged like that the gas gets stuck and makes the fruit go bad faster creating even MORE waste.

And this one left us thinking... Do tapes have anger management issues so they need to be separated into different boxes, even if they are from the same order?

REALLY? Six different boxes? 🤯

Paper, Labels, Tape, Carbon Imprint, Waste, Filling Landfills… unbelievable.

Gucci never disappoints. It is a bold, luxurious brand, and to our surprise, they also think about sustainability. They launched new sustainable packaging and, as expected from Gucci, not a simple packaging. And the green color is stunning! 🤩

So what makes this new sustainable packaging launched from Gucci so amazing?

🌳 All the materials used come from sustainable managed forest sources.

💚 The unique green color has a purpose: it decreases the use of inks during the process.

🛍 The uncoated paper makes the packaging easy to recycle

🛍 Shopping bag handles are free from glue and made with recycled polyester.

♻️ Dustbags are natural-colored and made of a mix of regenerated cotton and recycled polyester.

🎀 Ribbons are 100% organic cotton, and hangers are made from recycled Polystyrene.

🚚 To facilitate transportation and reduce their carbon footprint, they redesigned their boxes.

♻️ Gucci launched the take-back program to motivate customers to return and reuse the plastic protective boxes for their accessories and avoid making brand new boxes.

Yeah...We have more reasons to love the products from Gucci! We just hope that our pockets don't let us down.

Amazon, please explain that to us. Did you think the memory card was going to have claustrophobia?

While we don’t have answers for that, what we do know is that we have enough environmental issues already and that amount of paper for a tiny computer chip is not helping.
