The best ideas in senior living come from the caregivers and clinicians who are supporting residents every single day.

In our latest blog, Martine shares why the people closest to the work should have a seat at the table from the very beginning when designing new technology—not just after the decisions have already been made.

It's a perspective that inspired Sage Shift, our upcoming gathering dedicated to bringing together the voices shaping the future of care.

Caregiving is the work that holds senior living together. 💜

As we prepare for Sage Shift (September 23–24 in Brooklyn, NY), we've been listening to caregivers, operators, clinicians, and community leadership about the challenges shaping senior living today.

One thing has become clear: people experience care differently depending on their role.

That's exactly why Sage Shift exists.

This gathering is built around listening to and recognizing the people doing the work, creating space for caregivers to share their perspectives with community leadership about what's working, what isn't, and what care needs next.

Scroll through to explore the conversations shaping Sage Shift.

What conversations are happening in your community right now? We'd love to hear from you in the comments.

Great care starts with listening.

That belief shows up in everything we do, from conversations with leaders at our Clinical Roundtable to ongoing conversations with caregivers across senior living.

With a background in user research, our founder Ellen Johnston believes the people closest to the work should help shape its future:

“To all caregivers, we know how hard you work. We know how much you see and notice in the day to day. And we know that too often, your voices aren’t part of the conversations shaping the platforms you use every day.

That’s one of the reasons we created Sage Shift.”

This September 23–24 in Brooklyn, we’ll bring together caregivers, clinicians, operators, and industry leaders to keep these conversations going, making sure caregiver perspectives are front and center in shaping what’s next for senior living.

Follow Sage for updates as we help build the future of care.

Every shift tells a story.

For Eddie, a caregiver at Avista Senior Living in Yuma, Arizona, Sage helps his team understand what went well, where support is needed, and how staffing decisions impact resident care.

As we count down to Sage Shift, we're sharing stories from caregivers whose insights help shape better care every day. That's what Sage Shift is all about.

❤️ Watch Eddie's story below.

To all caregivers: we see you.

And we’re hearing a common theme from caregivers and clinical leaders: there’s a disconnect between the human side of care and the systems shaping decisions in senior living.

As RN and clinical leader Annie Muenzner shared:
“I do sometimes feel like I have this dividing line and part of me is nurse and human, the other part is numbers and data and finances. It is a business at the end of the day.”

Caregivers are focused on residents, while business decisions are often influenced by financial pressures that don’t always reflect life on the floor.

There’s an opportunity to create meaningful change. That’s why Sage Shift exists.

This September, we’re bringing caregivers, operators, and leaders together to listen and talk about better support for the people doing this work.

Thank you for all you do. 💜

✨ Caregiver Spotlight ✨

At Sage, we’re proud to highlight the caregivers who show up every day with heart, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to their residents and community.

Today, we’re honored to recognize Dinah Araka, a caregiver at Rose Arbor in Maple Grove, nominated by her Associate Executive Director, Carissa Thomas.

Carissa shared what makes Dinah such an exceptional member of the team. Scroll through below to learn more about Dinah and her dedication to senior care.

We’re grateful for caregivers like Dinah, whose steady presence and compassion help create communities where residents feel safe, supported, and truly seen.

Sage believes caregivers should always be heard and celebrated. Stay tuned for more on Sage Shift, our first annual Caregiving Summit bringing frontline caregivers and senior care leaders together to discuss workforce challenges, care delivery, and what it takes to build thriving communities.

One belief has guided us from the beginning: The future of senior living should be be shaped by the people closest to the work.

Recently, in Louisville, clinical leaders from across the country came together with the Sage team to share lessons learned, discuss the challenges they're facing today, and explore what the future of care could look like.

One of the most valuable parts of the day was the opportunity for Sage's product team to work directly alongside these leaders.

Through hands-on workshops and candid conversations, clinicians shared feedback on their workflows, highlighted opportunities for improvement, and helped us think differently about the future of innovation in senior living.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed their insights, ideas, and experiences. We're grateful to learn from you and build alongside you.

Special thanks as well to Lindsey Daugherty for her amazing work.

“We're Unbelievable.”

That's this year's Certified Nursing Assistants Week theme, and it's a fitting tribute to the nearly one million CNAs who show up every day with skill, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those in their care.

At Sage, we know that exceptional health care starts with exceptional people. We’re grateful for every CNA whose skill, empathy, and commitment help older adults achieve better health outcomes and a better care experience.

Thank you for all you do. Your impact is felt in every interaction, every day.

Caregiving is some of the most important work in our society.

Every day, caregivers help residents feel safe, supported, and seen... and their impact reaches far beyond the walls of a community.

That's why we're excited to launch Sage Shift this September: a new event dedicated to celebrating caregivers and elevating their voices.

We'll be sharing more in the months ahead, continuing to highlight the incredible people who inspire this work every day. 💜
