Morning handoff:
One of the clearest findings in The State of Care 2026 showed up in a very specific part of the day.
Between 6 and 8 a.m., 13.3% of alerts waited more than 20 minutes for a response, compared with 8.2% during the rest of the day.
The question for operators is not simply, โDo we have enough staff?โ
It is: What is happening during those two hours that makes timely response harder?
Handoffs, scheduled care, coverage, and competing demands may all be colliding in ways that monthly averages can hide.
