Impersonation attacks don't need to breach your network to damage your business.

A fake domain can be registered in minutes. A cloned website can go live just as fast. AI can now help attackers create convincing phishing copy, fake audio, video, ads, and social profiles at scale.

By the time a customer or employee reports it, the scam may already have reached hundreds or thousands of people.
That is the real problem.
Our new BrandShield Guide to Brand & Executive Impersonation Protection explains how security teams can get ahead of this risk before impersonation spreads across multiple channels.
Inside, we cover:
- How brand and executive impersonation attacks work
- Why AI is accelerating the threat
- How campaigns spread across domains, ads, apps, social media, and AI platforms
- How to move from reactive takedowns to continuous protection
- A practical maturity model and CISO checklist
If your team is still finding impersonation only after someone reports it, you're already reacting too late.

Brand impersonation used to mean a copied logo or a counterfeit product. That's no longer the whole picture.

Attackers now imitate websites, executives, customer support teams, ads, and social profiles — often without copying anything perfectly. They only need enough familiar signals to make someone believe they're dealing with the real company.

The numbers speak for themselves - the FTC reported over $3.5B lost to imposter scams in 2025, with business impersonation alone accounting for nearly $1B of that. And AI is only making these fakes faster and cheaper to produce at scale, across channels.

This piece breaks down why brand impersonation has become a cross-functional risk, touching security, legal, marketing, and customer support all at once.

What happens when infringers don't use your brand name? Or when marketplaces reject your takedown requests?

In our latest Ask the Expert, BrandShield Enforcement Team Lead Natalie shares what it really takes to fight online counterfeiting, why enforcement requires both legal expertise and creative thinking, and what brands often get wrong about protecting their IP.

So you have done your job and ensured your platform is secure. But what about everywhere your players interact with your brand?

Gaming scams increasingly happen outside the environments companies control through fake websites, support accounts, apps, ads, giveaways, and merchandise designed to exploit player trust.

For gaming and iGaming companies, protecting your player, your communities, means looking beyond your own platform.

Read our latest blog to see where that risk is emerging and what you need to be watching out for.

87% of U.S. adults are concerned about AI-powered scams, and phishing tops the list.

Our AI Scams & Consumer Fraud report found that AI-generated phishing, texts and emails built to look like they're from your bank or employer, ranks as consumers' top AI scam fear, ahead of deepfake impersonation and voice cloning.

Thanks to .net (https://hubs.ly/Q04y11ft0) for covering the findings.

BrandShield's Valerie Finn and Peter George spent the last couple of days in Baltimore at INTA's .

They came back with a full notebook, a few good debates still going in their heads, and a lot of respect for the people working on trademark issues every day. Thanks to the organizers for putting together such a thoughtful program.

A customer clicks what looks like your sale.

The logo is right. The products are right. The prices look almost too good to ignore.

But the website is fake.

For retailers, website impersonation is not just a fraud problem. It can lead to lost sales, stolen customer data, support complaints, and damage to the trust your brand has spent years building.

In our latest blog, we break down:
- How fake websites impersonate retail brands
- The warning signs customers and security teams should look for
- How to report a fake website
- What to do after the site is removed
- Why brands should investigate the wider campaign, not just the one domain

The key takeaway: detect it, preserve the evidence, report it quickly, and look for what is connected to it.
