🚀 AI Founders: Is your startup name a "Feature" or a "Future"?
In the rush to ship, many founders make the same mistake: They pick a name that describes their MVP, but kills their Pivot.
If your name is too narrow, you'll be rebranding in 12 months. If it’s too vague, your CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost) will skyrocket. The sweet spot is Semantic Branding—names that own a category.
I’ve been looking at the current landscape, and these are the types of names that actually scale:
1. The "Creative Engine" Names
AI is shifting from analysis to creation. Names like Recreator.ai or Redesigner.ai work because they describe the result, not the code. They tell the user: "This is where you transform things."
2. The "Deep Tech" Authority
In an era of "thin" LLM wrappers, the market is shifting toward Vertical AI—models built for specific, complex tasks. Using the "Deep" prefix (referencing Deep Learning) signals that your tech is foundational, not superficial.
DeepVisualizer.com: Positions you as a leader in Computer Vision or Spatial Computing.
DeepVoicer.com: Sounds like a high-fidelity Neural TTS (Text-to-Speech) powerhouse.
DeepScripter.com: Signals an advanced LLM for specialized coding or technical documentation.
3. The "Action" Names
A great name should feel like a verb.
CertifierAi.com implies trust and validation.
Infography.ai suggests the instant synthesis of data.
Transitive.ai signals movement and logic.
The Founder’s Checklist for Naming:
✅ Can it survive a pivot? (If you move from images to video, does the name still work?)
✅ Does it pass the "Radio Test"?
✅ Does it sound like a tool, or a teammate?
Which of these directions resonates most with the brand you’re building? Let’s discuss in the comments!
