NETWORKING NEWS

JCSNY initiated its first cross border software development outsourcing project. We identified and referred a very talented software developer based in Kingston, Jamaica to the CCSI Group in the USA. That developer has now signed on to do development work for CCSI.

The CCSI Group is a nonprofit organization that uses public and private capital to create social solutions to improve social outcomes in poor and underserved communities.

A Message from the JCS New York Chair:

As we close out the first quarter of 2019, I would like to thank our members, donors, staff and partners for your continued support and commitment towards our mission to 'unearth Jamaica's next natural resource'. Our launch reception in November 2018 was memorable in so many ways. The weather was as disruptive as one could imagine but I cannot forget the dedication of so many who attended amidst the snow, wind, traffic and freezing temperature. To our colleagues from the Jamaica Computer Society Kingston, your show of dedication has been an inspiration to us all.

Since our launch, we have focused our efforts on organizing the society to effectively support the pillars of our mission. We have a team of professionals in key leadership and support roles and we have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Read2Me foundation based in Nashville, Tennessee USA, to extend our service capabilities. Our outreach activities have been successful and we have seen members and donors connecting from all corners of the world. Our website continues to evolve along with our social media footprint and you can expect to see more activity in this regard in the coming quarter.

We are as strong as our member and donor base and so we ask for your continued support in spreading the word and helping us reach our membership target of 1,000 registered members by September 2019. Again, we thank you for your support and we will keep you apprised of our short and long term activities.

All the best. 'One love.'
Arthur
