Scroll to discover our 2025 Summer Interns!

✏️

Joining us as our copywriting intern, Charshell Lipai is a fresh graduate of Marist University, where she majored in Advertising. A lifelong lover of books and the written word, she was initially drawn by Sarankco’s collaborative vibes and looks forward to seeing how other creatives approach the same design and writing challenges. When she isn’t writing, she’s apt to be meandering in the city keeping her eyes peeled for inspiration (and cute dogs).

One of our two design interns, Kylee Henry is a rising senior at SUNY New Paltz, majoring in Graphic Design. She came to her interest in design after years of experience in video editing and jewelry-making, which exposed her to the power of branding to create lasting impressions. Kylee recharges her creative battery with lakeside getaways and reading thrillers – and we’re thrilled to have her!

🎨

Last but by no means least, Andrew Mora joins us as our second design intern. A rising senior at St. John’s University majoring in Graphic Design, he’s excited to connect with other creatives at Sarankco – people are his favorite part of design culture! Whether he’s scouring Are.na for inspo, reading classic design texts, or attending industry events, Andrew thrives on creative connections. Outside of the studio, you may spot him trying out new recipes on his friends or experimenting with riso prints.

Our founder, Steven, recently had the honor of joining the board of the New Paltz Pride Coalition, a grassroots organization advancing LGBTQ+ equity, visibility, and joy in New Paltz, New York, and the greater Hudson Valley. This June, they hosted their first-ever fundraising “gay-la” — called Flourish, it was a celebration of q***r resilience and creativity hosted by The Wedding Foundry .weddingfoundry and set in the orchards of nearby Highland, New York.

For the inaugural event, the coalition honored two remarkable community leaders: Celeste Lecesne, a co-founder of both The Trevor Project and The Future Perfect Project, and Darrell P. Wheeler, Ph.D., MPH, MSW, President of SUNY New Paltz. Both of these powerful advocates have used their vision and voices to create empowering spaces, particularly for young LGBTQ+ people.

We’re as proud as Steven is of the success of this first fundraiser. It was inspiring to see the community rally around this new organization at the start of Pride Month!

We love a busy spring at SARANKCO! This season we’ve been buzzing, with plenty to do and see at the studio and outside our doorstep in the city. Scroll through to see some of the recent action!

We welcomed students from CUNY City Tech into our studio for a portfolio review. In what has become an annual tradition, our designers dive into the work of recent and soon-to-be graduates and offer their perspectives and feedback to support our next generation of creatives.

Our 2024 graphic design intern Stephanie Zazo was honored at the Syracuse University Senior Spotlight in NYC! We loved seeing her work in the wild and are excited to see what she does next.

Some of our design team, including our founder, Steven Rank, attended the Type Directors Club 70th annual awards in NYC — seen by many as the most prestigious global typography and design competition. The winning work is always a source of inspiration.

A few of our designers attended an annual favorite, First Round , where creatives share a peek behind their processes with an insider’s look at first concepts, points of departure, and early iterations of their work. Thanks to UnderConsideration for another great event!

SARANKCO was proud to be part of the 2025 SVA Career Fair, where we connected with the next generation of creative professionals! Alongside industry leaders like Google Creative Lab, BBDO, Tiffany, Lippincott, Nickelodeon, and R/GA, we met with talented and ambitious young Bachelor’s and Master’s students in Fine Art and Design ready to launch their creative careers. Throughout the event, we reviewed portfolios, provided professional guidance, and explored future opportunities—including our highly anticipated Summer Internship Program, which will be announced soon! ✨

Last week, SARANKCO opened our doors to over 30 talented freelancers from NYC’s creative community for a night of great food, lively conversation, and authentic connections at our new studio. In collaboration with AIGA NY, we created a space where freelancers of all backgrounds could showcase their skills, exchange industry insights, and expand their networks. From navigating the evolving freelance landscape to tackling shared challenges, the evening was all about fostering meaningful partnerships that drive creative success. Here’s to building stronger connections and shaping the future of our industry—together! 🥂

Near the start of each year, we spend a day together outside of the studio to get a fresh view on the months that have passed and set our goals for the ones ahead. We call it our Values Day.

Our day of seeing things differently had a fittingly off-kilter start, including a flat tire, train mishaps, and a party bus navigating rush- hour traffic! The team took it in stride and arrived at the New York Botanical Garden , where we reflected on the victories and obstacles of 2024 and shared our notes toward co-creating a bright 2025.

During our visit, we were treated to a private tour of the Steere Herbarium, the largest of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. It was humbling to stand within this hidden trove of centuries of collaborative scholarship, exploration, and complex, meaningful work — and glimpse the subtle, delicate threads connecting everything around us.

Before sharing a delicious dinner together, we had a chance to wander the conservatory, a place whose colorful variations and wild adaptations are inspiring examples of how evolution in the face of challenges can be truly beautiful.

This Black History Month, we’re recognizing the contributions of Black creatives. Here are three celebrated professionals who have created groundbreaking work.

A trailblazer in graphic design, Charles Dawson is known for the illustrated advertisements he made for beauty products in the 1920s and 1930s. He also self-published a children’s book titled “ABCs of Great Negroes,” which included portraits and biographies of African American and African leaders.

An AIGA medalist, Cheryl D. Miller established one of the first Black-women owned design firms in New York City in 1984. In 1987, Print Magazine published her first article about her college thesis titled “Black Designers: Missing in Action.”

Gail Anderson’s career has spanned from magazine design to theatrical design to teaching, though she is perhaps best known for her poster design. In 2018, she received a Lifetime Achievement award at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Awards.
