We’re thrilled to welcome David Weinstein to the Voltpost Advisory Board.
David is the founder and managing partner of Freshwater Advisors, a venture catalyst firm and corporate innovation consultancy that connects corporations to startups and entrepreneurial ecosystems through structured scouting programs and targeted advisory services. His clients have included Exelon, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Caterpillar, Cummins, Constellation Allstate, Hyatt, AbbVie, Northwestern Mutual, Energize Ventures, Chord Energy, Invenergy, Evergreen Climate Innovations, Current, and CME Group, giving him a rare vantage point across industries and innovation stages.
As founding CEO of the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center, David helped build what is now 1871, one of the country’s premier tech incubators. During his tenure, he supported more than 1,000 entrepreneurs, helped companies secure over $160 million in contracts, and facilitated $120 million in seed and early-stage financing. He went on to co-found the Illinois Innovation Accelerator Fund (I2A), a $10 million seed-stage venture capital fund formed alongside founding chairman J.B. Pritzker.
Prior to that, David served as CEO of BlueMeteor, where he significantly grew the enterprise software company and forged strategic alliances with Oracle, TIBCO, Sun Microsystems, and EMC.
David worked in government and was the chief technology advisor to the mayor of the City of Chicago, Richard M. Daley. In this role, he managed the City’s Technology Development Initiative which provided $70 million in financial incentives to build technology infrastructure and development projects in Chicago and spearheaded the creation of the Mayor’s Council of Technology Advisors and was appointed to the Chicago Plan Commission by Mayor Daley.
