This is for anyone who has been believing God for something for a LONG TIME and it hasnāt come to pass yet!
I wonāt say āhang in there,ā because Iām sure youāre tired of hearing itā¦ SO AM I! š Instead, my prayer is that you ask God to give you JOY through the process!
If youāre anything like me, you want the storm to pass QUICKLY! Who wants to suffer for 2 years, 3 years, 5 years? NO ONE! But unfortunately, we donāt get to pick the duration of our test.
Today marks 5 YEARS since I was diagnosed with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease.
I was diagnosed September 7, 2021, in Houston. I started dialysis the next day, spent about 15 days in the hospital and eventually returned home to New Orleans to begin this new journey.
But surprisingly, these last 5 years havenāt been all bad!
Since my diagnosis, Iāve hosted wellness, mental health and networking events, opened my first office on Canal Street, was highlighted by Adobe, traveled, received a Man of Influence Award, launched Black Men Pray and continued growing as an entrepreneur.
Then in March 2025, For Black Men Health Inc. officially became a nonprofit. Since then, weāve hosted even more wellness events, launched health challenges, watched I Need Black Men To Go To The Doctor go viral and introduced The Essence of HIM and the 31-in-31 Challenge.
And somehow, Iāve continued serving my graphic and web design clients ALL WHILE ON DIALYSIS!
On September 1st, I started my herbal wellness journey. My prayer is that God heals me through this process and a transplant wonāt even be necessary. šš¾
As I prepare to go to dialysis today (Day 1,826), Iām simply saying:
LIVE THROUGH IT!
Of course there are days when Iām tired.
Of course there are days when I DONāT WANT TO DO THIS ANYMORE!
But Iām learning that while Iām waiting for the storm to pass, I STILL HAVE LIFE TO LIVE.

ENDURE IT!
FIGHT FOR YOUR HEALING!
FIGHT FOR YOUR JOY!
