That free coffee shop WiFi is convenient, but It's also shared with every stranger in the building. Some are using commercial-grade network equipment that’s super safe, but not all places are created equal. University PC Care can help if you’re ever unsure or run into problems afterwards.

A few good habits are:
✔️ Confirm the network name with staff and ask if it’s password protected or open to public. Fake networks with lookalike names are a real trick and non-password protected public access Wifi may be a gamble.
✔️ Save banking and sensitive logins for home, or use your phone's hotspot instead.
✔️ Turn off auto join so your devices don't connect to open networks on their own.
✔️ Look for the padlock in your browser before entering anything personal.

Public WiFi isn't the enemy. Using it carelessly is.
