Thanks to Digital Skills for Ownership and Sustainability for organizing this laptop distribution event in Havalock and allowing me to volunteer some of my time to help with people’s initial setup of their laptop. E2D - Eliminate the Digital Divide provided affordable devices to bring access to the line of people who showed up this morning. Apollo Net connects them to the internet with affordable home broadband powered by the T-Mobile network.

Technology should feel easier to use.

Today I helped a client move on from a 15-year-old desktop that just couldn’t keep up anymore. Their old square monitor made even simple websites frustrating to use.

We replaced it with a straightforward, modern PC and a 24-inch widescreen monitor. No extra bells and whistles, just something that works the way it should.

We also simplified a few everyday headaches.
Moved their passwords out of a notebook and into Bitwarden, set up Face ID so pins and hunting for passwords are a thing of the past, and got a Ring doorbell online that had been sitting in the box for months.

And of course, their three boxer dogs made sure I didn’t leave without giving them plenty of attention.

This is the kind of work I enjoy.

Recently, we worked with two clients who had very different goals.

One wanted to replace everything and simplify. After walking through how they actually use their technology day to day, they chose a clean setup: a new iMac, a new iPhone, and a Brother printer so everything works together without friction.

The other wanted to spend as little as possible and keep what they had. Their HP printer had already caused frustration, and the cost of replacement toner did not make sense. We guided them to a Brother printer instead, then helped them move to a certified refurbished desktop and new monitor when their current system could not support Windows 11.
