Custom Formz began through my experience as a quality engineer at a fortune 50 business.

I was tasked with creating processes and systems to ensure contractors all around the world provided consistent technical service on their high investment data center cooling equipment.

I worked closely with internal and external software developers to provide blueprints of exactly how the systems should work.

Additionally, I needed to measure, improve, and report on the results on a continuous basis. On the extremely sensitive systems, I would work closely with senior level management. What an experience for a 26 year old with a HVAC degree.

Little did I know how much this experience would be directly attributable to the success of my small heating and air conditioning business.

It’s our processes that make us different in our market, enable us to easily onboard employees, continually improve when we have call backs, and keep alignment between everyone in the company.

Using these processes along with service and dispatch software (we use ServiceM8, but just about any software can work) we are able to do more than $2m in sales with just 1 full time office person. (In the heat of the summer we have a part time person to help answer phone).

Sales have doubled over the past 2 years, and the business is actually easier for me to run. Typically I leave around noon each day.

When everyone knows what to do and how to do it, growth is significantly easier to handle.

Like “The Profit’s” Marcus Lemonis says often, it takes “people, product, and process” firing on a cylinders for repeatable business success.

My passion is in creating, analyzing, reworking, and refining processes to get repeatable, predicable results.
