There was one thing I heard on C+F’s wedding day that really stuck with me. And it was just the simple statement that, “Getting married is a big deal.” And it really is. I feel like our society puts the glitz and glamour of a wedding day above the real meaning of a marriage. So my advice? Take your time in choosing your forever person and trust your gut. Plain and simple. Oh and here’s a hint: if they want to get married at a cozy kinda camp with a pup named Murphy as your ring bearer - it’s probably a really good sign 🙃

This week has been utterly devastating with the tornado that came through our neighboring town. I can’t even begin to explain how surreal it was to run into the basement, knowing every possession could be gone in an instant… The only thing I grabbed was my baby girl and an external drive with most of life’s/client’s photos on it… Luckily we were not one of the many that lost every thing but it absolutely put so many things into perspective…

Like choosing moments and presence above all else as we remember just how brief this life is and how quickly it can change. That has always been my why and I think Brooklyn and Aaron nailed it right on the head too when they shared their private vows this summer, of which a small portion I will share:

After 12 years, this job still shakes me. Still fills me. Still inspires me. Still has me falling deeply in love. Especially when I get to work with couples like Katie and Scott.

As soon as I met K+S I knew their wedding day was going to be genuinely them and different from the norm. And that’s what I’m all about capturing. Always.

Photographing Sara + Alex’s wedding this fall was such an honor and awesome thing to behold. And while one could say that wedding days are always filled with love, this one felt different. Because the love that every single family member and friend brought to their day felt just as big and real as the love between them. And that is all I ever want for all my couples, to be surrounded in pure, uplifting love, for the rest of their days.
