A patch may bring back memories of a unit, deployment or place someone once called home.

A photograph may hold faces and moments that can never be recreated.

And a folded flag can represent an entire lifetime of service and sacrifice.

At Honor Box Studios, we believe these pieces deserve more than storage.
They deserve to be preserved.
But even more importantly, the stories behind them deserve to be preserved too.

As October begins, we want to spend more time talking about the memories, people and history represented inside the boxes we create.

Because someday a child, grandchild or great-grandchild may ask:

“What did this mean?”
We want families to still have the answer.
Honor the service.
Preserve the story.
Protect the legacy.

Today, on National POW/MIA Recognition Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who endured captivity, those who never returned home, and the families who have lived with unanswered questions.

Their service is more than history. Their names, their stories, and their sacrifices are part of the legacy of our military community—and they deserve to be remembered.

At Honor Box Studios, we believe preserving military history means remembering every chapter, including those whose stories remain unfinished.

To our former Prisoners of War, our Missing in Action, and the families who continue to carry their memory:

You are not forgotten.

Today, we remember.

September 11, 2001 changed our nation forever.

We remember the lives taken too soon.
We remember the families who never got to say goodbye.
We remember the first responders who ran toward danger while others were trying to escape.
We remember the service members who answered the call in the days, months, and years that followed.

And we remember a moment when, despite unimaginable tragedy, communities came together in a way many of us will never forget.

At Honor Box, we believe stories matter—especially the stories of courage, sacrifice, service, and the people whose lives helped shape our history.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor those we lost, those who served, those who sacrificed, and the families who still carry the weight of that day.

May we never allow the passing of time to diminish the importance of remembering.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Today, on Purple Heart Day, Honor Box Studios pauses to honor the brave men and women who were wounded or gave their lives in service to our country. 💜

The Purple Heart is more than a medal.

Behind every Purple Heart is a person.
A family.
A sacrifice.
A story that deserves to be remembered.

Some of those stories are told through photographs and uniforms. Others live within medals, patches, letters, and treasured pieces that families have held onto for generations.

Military keepsakes tell only part of the story unless families also preserve the meaning behind them.

A photograph may show where someone served—but does the family know who is standing beside them?

A medal may represent extraordinary service—but does anyone know when or why it was awarded?

A patch, coin, letter, or set of orders may seem like a small item today, but it could become one of the most meaningful pieces of a family’s history.

Here are five things military families should begin preserving:

• Photographs with names, dates, and locations
• Medals, ribbons, badges, and their meanings
• Unit patches, challenge coins, and insignia
• Letters, journals, certificates, and important orders
• The veteran’s own words and personal stories

Do not wait until someone else must piece the story together.

Ask the questions. Write down the answers. Preserve the history.
