Come join us at HamXposition Aug 14-16h! STARS members will be giving several talks and workshops, and we will have a large booth in the Atrium with many hands on activities. Peruse the flea market, spent time with us at the booth, catch some talks, and overall, enjoy yourself!

Two of our youth successfully completed a project to remote control an az/el camera mount on a high altitude balloon from the ground using LoRa over the 70cm amateur radio band. Congratulations, Logan and Nathaniel.

Last week, members of STARS launched a high altitude balloon to the edge of space with projects from our students in the StratoScience Lab program. Tracking telemetry was sent over 70cm using the Horus Binary v3 protocol. The Insta360 captured stunning views of the entire flight train as well as unobstructed views of of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Summer Radio Field Day was a flurry of activity at New England Sci-Tech last weekend. Thanks to all who volunteered and all who attended to practice and enjoy long range emergency radio communications using mobile power. Please feel free to join us in the future! Come try our new, high-performance digital SDR HF rig in the STARS radio room! This FlexRadio FLEX-6600M was generously donated to the club by a member of the community, and we've been having fun learning it and making our first contacts.

One of our rising stars poses with antennas she built as part of NEST's Radio Astronomy & Satellites Workshop. Students built various types of antennas to capture and digitize radio signals from planes, satellites, and astronomical objects. The 18-session workshop was developed and taught by Rye Hogan, a student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Next year we plan to offer this workshop in 3-week modules from September through June.
