This morning, some of my vintage (older) members came in and worked out while it was 84 degrees inside the building and 83 degrees outside. That is not the environment I want for any of our members, especially those who are older and can be more affected by the heat.

According to the National Institute of Aging and The National Integrated Heat Health Information System:

Hotter days can cause difficulty in the body’s ability to regulate its temperature. This can be challenging for older adults who typically do not adjust as well as others to sudden temperature changes.
Additionally, older adults are more likely to have chronic medical conditions that affect the body’s response to temperature, and to take prescription medicines that alter the body’s ability to control temperature or sweat.
This can lead to heat stroke or other heat borne illnesses.

So, until the air is fixed or the weather changes, please be aware and conscious of the heat before working out. Even younger adults can get overheated during workouts as our internal temperature is already 98.6 degrees. But, during exercise, it can climb well past 100.

*Pay attention to your body*

Signs of getting too hot include:
•Headache
•Dizziness or lightheaded
•Muscle Cramps
•Rapid Heartbeat
•Confusion
•Nausea
These are serious symptoms of our internal temp climbing too high and can indicate a heat stroke.
Please be careful while working out in these conditions. I have multiple fans set up around the gym, but with the temps climbing, especially in the evening, it won’t be enough to decrease the temp, just circulate the already hot air around the building.

I just wanted to take a minute to say I’m so sorry that one of the air units have been down for almost two weeks, and that it has been so hot inside the gym. I hate knowing my members are uncomfortable, and it’s so stressful to know I have no control over it.

I want to say thank you so much to all the ones who have been positive about this predicament I’m currently in and for those who still come in with smiles even though I know you probably wanted to stay home. 😞

I want to make it known to my members who do not know, that I do not own the building, so unfortunately I do not have control over the air conditioning system or when it is repaired. The building owner told me last week that a new unit has been ordered, but there is still no definite installation date.

Please know I am doing everything I can to stay in touch with the owner and on top of the situation to get the air back up and running as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and continued support of Flex Gym, I appreciate it so, so much and I am so sorry. ❤️

Something Amazing and new is here at Flex Gym. We are so excited! 😆

Step into a calm, inviting space where movement meets mindfulness. This yoga class gently guided us through deep stretching methods that relaxed, refreshed, and renewed us physically and spiritually, it also helped us reconnect with our body, our mind, and our breath.
We definitely left feeling lighter and more grounded.

This class is led by a highly knowledgeable and exceptionally talented instructor, Rebecca Anderson Tollett.
Each session will flow with purpose; creating a safe and supportive environment for all levels. As you move, you’ll release built-up tension and negative energy, making space for positivity, clarity, and a renewed sense of balance.

Rebecca was absolutely wonderful, she helped us find a relaxing, positive energy and her tone as she spoke and directed was soothing and calm.
Finding a center to build positivity from is so important for our mind and our body. Rebecca helps you reach inward and guides you through that journey.
