Spent the day with my good friends at Pulse Techniques talking about one of my favorite pieces of gear ever made — the legendary PULTEC EQ. We even got our famous stereo consecutive numbered pair out for pictures as well as a few other ones from our rental inventory.

When you genuinely love this stuff, the conversation comes easy. Grateful to see my friend Jay Porter leading such an iconic company and continuing the legacy the right way.

Moments like this happen all the time at Rack N Roll Audio and usually never get documented. While talking about string arrangements, legendary producer Ron Fair pulled out the original score from A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton and shared a story from the making of the record.

As a music nerd and producer myself, this was one of those full-circle moments. That album set such a high musical bar when it came out and still holds up today as a masterpiece in songwriting, arrangement, and production.

There’s nothing better than building something great with people you’ve come up with.

That was the case on Evangeline vs. The Machine Comes Alive—getting to reccomend one of my oldest Nashville friends, to handle the IMAX mix for the film made it even more meaningful. I’ve known Fred a long time, as he was one of the first people I met when I moved to town in ‘95.

On top of that, absolutely crushed the mix, and Rack-N-Roll had the chance to capture the whole thing the right way from the start using our OPX flight pack.

Projects like this remind me—it’s not just about the work, it’s about who you get to do it with.

Five years ago, during one of the most uncertain seasons our industry has faced, Rack-N-Roll Audio was proud to support the production of My Savior: Live from the Ryman with Carrie Underwood.

No audience. No large-scale PA. Just the historic Ryman Auditorium and a world-class performance captured with intention and precision.

Projects like this define what we’re built for—delivering high-level audio production in unique, high-pressure environments where there’s no room for compromise.

Released on Easter during the height of COVID, this production remains one of the most meaningful and technically rewarding projects we’ve been part of.
