Avoid I 24 through downtown Nashville! I24 West at Ellington is shut down as a Tornado went across the interstate - overturned tractor trailer, multicar accident, tons of debris and building material scattered across the road - all 8 lanes of traffic!

UPDATES:

2 fatalities in East Nashville. 😭
ALL METRO SCHOOLS CLOSED TODAY.
All residents asked to stay home, and all non essential travel to stay off roads.

I40 at Elm Hill Pike slow down, I40 completely closed at Lebanon / Mt Juliet due to MULTIPLE cars flipped over, lots of damage at I 40- Hwy 109 and Golden Bear Parkway.

In Nashville, 40+ buildings have collapsed per Metro. Rosa Parks AutoZone destroyed. Damage all around Sounds Stadium, won't know about stadium until daylight. Musuc City Cleaners by Bicentennial Capitol Mall gutted. Vistas Germantown and Germantown Place apartments damaged, gas leak at IMT building, all residents evacuated.

In Nashville East, area near Woodland & 10th completely decimated Five Points Pizza, Drifters, Beyond the Edge, etc, Burger Up, The Juicery, and Family Dollar damaged, Molly Green reduced to rubble, and Basement East destroyed with burst water pipes as well. Significant damage to several buildings around this area.

Tornado touched down in Hermitage by Summit, Kroger gas station demolished, Kroger damaged, lots of flipped cars. Strip mall building damaged. Steeplechase condos damaged, homes on Dodson Chapel damaged, missing roofs, etc. Lots of downed power lines, hospital on generator back up power. Donelson Christian Academy demolished - no school until further notice. At least 2 Metro schools have some damage, several without power.

Lots of damage in Mt Juliet, including West Wilson Elementary. Mt Juliet Rd completely shut down for a significant portion of the road. Lots of structural collapses, Triple Crown and Clearview subdivisions heavily damaged, Red Cross enroute.

Lots of damage in Lebanon!! Wal-Mart has significant damage.

Emergency shelters set up at Nashville Farmers Market and Victory Baptist Church in Mt Juliet.
