After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to wind down operations at Tolok.
Tolok was built on a simple idea: artists deserve better tools, better transparency, and better partnership. We funded records. We built systems. We experimented with AI in music management before most people were even talking about it. And now frontier companies like Anthropic are rapidly shipping tools better than we could have dreamed of.
We took risks. We learned a lot. Some things worked, some things did not. But I hope everyone we crossed paths with felt that we treated them with integrity from start to finish.
To Leandro, Tony, Ariann, Fer, Jano, Carlos, Peter, Liv, Tara, Jon, Hunter, Ed, Brian, Farith, Allie, Jeff, and everyone else who helped build Tolok along the way, thank you for being part of this story.
To every artist who trusted us, every collaborator who built with us, and every listener who streamed the songs, thank you.
The music will continue to live on. And so will the lessons.
