OCTOBER IS CYBERSECURITY AWARENESS MONTH

Apple Users: Don't Fall for This Scam

Got an email saying your Apple account was used to buy a new iPhone and urging you to call a number right away?

Take a breath. It's likely a scam.

Cybercriminals are sending fake purchase alerts designed to panic you into calling a fake "support" line. Once you do, they'll try to trick you into sharing financial information or installing software that gives them access to your device.

✅ Verify purchases directly through your Apple account. ❌ Don't call phone numbers listed in suspicious emails.

When in doubt, slow down and double-check before you act.

Hydrant flushing removes minerals and sediment that build up over time and also ensures that all fire hydrants are in good working order so there is adequate water flow available in the event of a fire emergency.

Here’s some customer recommendations during flushing season:
1. Using water while we are flushing can draw sediment into your home’s pipes. So, if you see our trucks or crew near your home, please wait to use your water until they’ve moved on.

2. If you’re unsure if our crews are still in your area, run the cold water for a couple of minutes. If the water’s clear, then you’re good to go.

If you have already flushed your taps, and that did not clear the water, please call MPW at 263-2631 so we may further investigate.

OCTOBER IS ALL ABOUT STAYING SAFE ONLINE

Don't Get Tricked, Check Before You Click.

You receive an urgent email from your bank warning that your account will be restricted unless you act immediately. It looks legitimate, complete with logos, branding, and a helpful link.

But it's actually a phishing scam.

Clicking that link could install malware on your device, giving cybercriminals access to personal information like your address, banking details, and more.

✅ Slow down. ✅ Verify the sender. ✅ Never download software from unexpected emails.

A few extra seconds could save you from identity theft.
