🤖 Meet Bella!

Bella is part of a collaboration by Elisa, Nokia, and Foundation PS to strengthen digital skills, responsible AI use, and future competencies in children in Finland.

Originally developed at Nokia Bell Labs (and now built by the Finnish company IchiZero), Bella comes with a browser-based app and ready-made lesson materials so teachers can show pupils how artificial intelligence learns, makes mistakes, and improves.

💡 Need some motivational mid-week wisdom? Here's Bell Labs' Louis E. Brus (Nobel Prize winner and quantum dot pioneer) on progress and scientific breakthroughs:

"You don't have to be a genius to make good progress. You have to be dedicated, be intelligent, and have discipline to keep working, but you don't have to be a true genius."

Brus was in a perfect place to advise on breakthroughs, as he made these comments during his Nobel Prize lecture in 2023!

🧠💡 Back in June, we celebrated the anniversary of the start of the 1956 Dartmouth Workshop...

On this day in 1956 (August 17), the iconic eight-week event ended. The workshop brought together leading researchers, including Bell Labs' Claude Shannon, and John McCarthy, Marvin Minsky, and Nathaniel Rochester, and is considered to have established AI as a research discipline.
