This page is in its very early infancy. We hope you are among the first to join us in building a strong community of individuals, businesses and families who are interested in barter (trading).
As members of Arkansas Barter Community we now have an opportunity to build a platform in effort revive the earliest form of currency right here in the greater Baxter and Marion counties region of north central Arkansas. However, as the name implies, this group is also open to all Arkansas residents and those in surrounding areas who wish to participate. Note: since there is not any type of secure platform to handle payment (there are no payments - no cash transactions or solicitations allowed), we do not recommend shipping at this time - please use your best discretion at all times!
As pointed out above, the barter system is the earliest form of currency, because it began during a time when legal tender was not even a consideration. Simply put, and this is how it’s been for many, many thousands of years, if one person had a commodity or service to offer up, they would approach others in effort to attain whatever it was he/she needed. Also, dating back to long ago, some 12,000 years in the past (as some historians claim) Native American peoples would commonly trade beads, pottery and weaponry for artwork, grains, meat, etc… Infact, our ancestors created the first stores surrounding the concept of barter right here in the USA! They are now referred to in history books as Trading Posts.
We are trained to use money in order to by the things we need. This is the most vastly known, and widely encouraged method we all use today in order to get the goods and services we need and want. And, that’s how things are going to be in the future as well.
Here at Arkansas Barter Community we have an opportunity to offer up things (possessions) we may not even want or need and turn them into cash, by offering those things up for barter instead - that’s how it works - we don’t buy and sell - we trade one thing for another - someone sees your post - they want what you have - you want what they have - transaction is completed at the location both parties agree on - everyone is happy!
Offer anything that does not violate FaceBook’s Terms of Service and the law in general (incase they missed anything) Remember, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”!
In closing, welcome again! You are gonna love it here! While you may or my not have a few bucks to spare for home goods, electronics, gym equipment, cars, trucks, bicycles, toys, etc…, etc... anything really, even services… you’ll feel at home here knowing that all forms of legal tender ARE NOT part of the transaction process here (unless it’s stuff like collectible coins) - trades only - no soliciting to purchase - no soliciting to sell.
