$25 For Sale: HP Photosmart 7520 Printer with Scanner/Copier. This printer is WiFi capable and works great. Photos turn out great. (Note it has a 4x6 photo tray but the roller doesn’t pick up well) I use full sheet photo paper and they look great. Another feature of this printer as you can see in the pictures, is that it’s old enough to not use the new cartridge chip technology so you can use either HP or generic cartridges in it. It features a 5 cartridge system (Black, Photo Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow) included in the purchase is the printer, power cable, 3 new HP photo black, 3 New HP Yellow, 1 generic black and 1 generic Magenta Cartridges. Also as shown on the demo page, the other cartridges are nearly full. I will have additional printers posted throughout the week. Let me know if interested.

Electronics cleanup this weekend for mt. Sterling residents. If you live outside the city limits you can bring them to me at 220 west Franklin in front of my garage. For a list of all that I accept text me at 217-257-0414.

The City of Mt. Sterling will conduct a city-wide cleanup on Friday, June 6 from 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday, June 7 from 8:00am-noon. This service is provided for Mt. Sterling residents living within city limits.
Dumpsters will be available at the old Public Works facility at 201 Forrest Ave, same site as last year. This is an excellent opportunity for those residents needing to come into compliance with ordinance violations to do so at no expense.
We are pleased to announce we WILL BE accepting electronics again this year. This includes televisions, computers, radios, microwaves, etc. You will be directed to the appropriate container. We will be accepting appliances, batteries and items that are at least 50% metal.
Those items not being accepted are used paint cans, tires, and yard waste. Yard waste may be taken to the city dump north of the water treatment plant. It is strictly for those items originating in your yard and NOT railroad ties, landscaping timbers, any type of lumber etc. Refer to the posted sign at the entrance to the dump site for further information.
The collection site will be monitored by city employees. Those dumping items will be asked to register with their name, address and phone number.

I want to take a second and post about a scam one of my Facebook friends is going through right now. His Facebook account has been hacked. So someone has gained access to his actual Facebook account with actual friends. The hacker will send a message through messenger to Facebook friends saying something like I need your help or I need a favor. You won’t think anything about replying to your friend and you may say sure what can I do. They will then video message you through Facebook and when you answer, it’s your friend on video but no audio. I’ve also heard of it being a picture of them or video with someone else’s voice. The call will end quickly and you will likely assume it was a bad connection. They will then engage again through text and you may still believe it is your friend trying to reach you and that’s when they ask for money. Never send money to anyone. With AI becoming more used and more real than ever before, it’s easier to get scammed. They can clone your voice and now clone you through video. If you are the target of a scam, let the person know they have been hacked. If you have been hacked (account taken over not a duplicate account created in your name) then try to sign in and change your password. You also need to go to your account settings and look at where you are listed as signed in. Most likely you will see an out of state or out of country sign in. Log those out so they can’t gain access again. I prefer 2 factor authentication for Facebook. Keep in mind if the email you use for Facebook and password are the same as what you use to sign in everywhere else that requires an email and password then your other stuff could be hacked very easily. It’s a pain but better to not use the same passwords everywhere.

The Village of Pleasant Plains welcomed me back to host another electronic recycle day today. It was hot, and wore us out. They also offered document shredding that was sponsored by a local bank for the community which was nice. It sure goes in faster than it comes out. I don’t think we will surpass last years weight of 12-13 thousand pounds collected but we had it packed tight.

I wanted to give a huge thank you to the village of Pleasant Plains for the overwhelming response to their community electronic recycling day. They showed up in full force. I was not prepared and filled my trailer in the first 45 minutes of a 3 hour event. With some quick thinking and some improvising, they grabbed another flat trailer to keep accepting while Myles and I drove home and emptied the trailer and went back to pick up the second load. What took minutes to load took Myles and I 5 hours to unload. I can hardly move and I have several days to sort and transport my new collections to their final destinations.

I would highly recommend to everyone to set up 2 factor authentication for Facebook and instagram. It is getting much more frequent that people have their accounts hacked. An actual hack is a person finds out your password and signs in as you. Once inside, they can change the email address, phone number and password which will lock you out. With 2 factor authentication, it will either text you or have you use an Authenticator app to generate a code to sign in. This prevents anyone but you from accessing the account. If you don’t plan to change your phone number then setting up text is probably best. When you sign in for the first time, it will text you a code that you have to sign in with. You will know right away if someone has your password because you will get a text when they sign in. I would also suggest looking at the active devices you are signed into and remove any you aren’t sure are you.
