This is important! If you do not feel heard by your ob/Gyn OR midwife/ nurse practitioner please change. I am in the process of doing so and it has not been easy but in order to have the labor and delivery we want and deserve ( and with medicine in general) we must be our own advocates!

I do not care what kind of birth you have...a home birth, scheduled cesarean, epidural hospital birth, or if you are alone in the woods next to a baby deer. I care that you had options, were supported in your choices and that you were respected. - January Harsch

Although I’m a birth doula, I’m so glad to see we are starting to recognize the importance of both birth and postpartum doula work. We all should have the option at least of a doula for birth and after.

Because when a baby comes, friends and families don’t always know how to help.
