Finished a special custom DMG Gameboy for Christmas this year! Hand painted to match the Minecraft Creeper design. The DMG is totally playable and sprayed with Mod Podge to clearcoat the body.

Replaced a battery for a customer over the weekend! Gameboy and Gameboy Color games use different sized small watch batteries soldered to the cartridge to hold the save file. As with any battery though, their lifespan is finite. Most batteries that have been active since the 90s when these games were produced have run dry. Meaning you can play the game, but when you turn off your Gameboy, you lose your save file.

Gameboy Cartridge battery replacements cost $20. Also, if I change your battery, I will give you one FREE backup of your save file delivered to you digitally so if you ever need to replace it again, you can be sure you won't lose your precious Pokémon!

We ALWAYS solder the battery to the cartridge with an accurate replacement battery. Some people will just purchase any random battery from Walmart and jam it in there with electrical tape. We don't do that here.

This week's project: cleaning and repairing an original 2007 Xbox 360 RedOctane X-Plorer Controller. This controller is fairly sought after as it is one of the only guitar controllers that work with the original Guitar Hero games, and also work with PC guitar hero clones like Clone Hero.

This controller would intermittently disconnect and sometimes not connect at all to PCs. Most of the fret buttons were not responsive as well. We took apart the shell, removed the internals, gave it a nice cleaning, and a new paint job to be revealed later! 🟢⚫
