ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts VAPA programs are designed to develop your expertise, challenge your creativity & fuel your passion.

Art concentrations are offered in ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting, and art education. Bachelor of Music studies include performance, theory and composition, musical theater, piano pedagogy, and music education. Bachelor of Arts in Music concentrations include Psychology, Communication, Creative Writing, Journalism, Spanish, Business, and Pre-Medical Studies. Concentrations under develo

pment include Jazz Studies, Church Music, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Pre-Creative Arts Therapy. Theater and dance offer minor areas of study and provide a variety of performance opportunities to enhance studio-based courses.

The Summer MME brings active music teachers to the ULM campus for an intensive three semester graduate degree program. ULM Jazz Ensemble Presents "Jazz4Kidz — Music for the Young at Heart" April 22, Noon–1:00 p.m., Brown Auditorium, University of Louisiana Monroe

MONROE, La. — The ULM Jazz Ensemble invites families to its first-ever Jazz for Kids concert, "Jazz4Kidz — Music for the Young at Heart," on April 22 from noon to 1:00 p.m. in Brown Auditorium on the ULM campus. This 50-minute program is crafted to engage young listeners and introduce them to America’s original art form: jazz.

The repertoire includes big-band arrangements of familiar favorites from Disney films, Broadway, and classic children’s tunes. Selections scheduled to be featured include "The Bare Necessities," "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "La Cucaracha," "Pure Imagination," "When You Wish Upon a Star," and many more crowd-pleasers adapted to delight young and young-at-heart audiences alike.

"Jazz4Kidz" is the inaugural concert in ULM’s new KinderJazz series presented by the Jazz and Commercial Music program. The event is designed to spark curiosity in aspiring young musicians while offering an entertaining, family-friendly afternoon of live music. This event is free and open to the public, so please join us for the lunchtime concert and allow this music to refresh your youthful spirit!

Phi Kappa Phi is an honor society established in 1897 to recognize and encourage superior scholarship without restriction as to the area of study. It was the fourth academic society in the United States to be organized around recognizing academic excellence, and it is the oldest all-discipline honor society.
