A study in contrast, with a story to tell.

Located just outside Boston, Artemas reinterprets New England’s industrial heritage and timeless Americana through a contemporary lens. Rich, moody tones and layered materials bring depth and character to the interiors, balancing a sense of history with a distinctly modern edge. We’re proud to have partnered with Quarterra on this project.

We have some exciting news!

Hewing Hotel has been named a Gold Key Award finalist in the Guestroom - Midscale category. Presented by Boutique Design | BDNY, the Gold Key Awards recognize excellence in hospitality design from around the world.

Nearly a decade after the hotel first opened, our design team returned to thoughtfully evolve the interiors through a comprehensive refresh. The redesign enhances the guest experience while honoring Hewing Hotel’s established identity and connection to the North Loop community. Each guestroom was designed to feel more considered, creating spaces that are personal while reflecting the larger story of the hotel.

We’re honored to see this work recognized on an international stage.

Congratulations to the project team, Aparium, and Neil Locke & Associates for their collaboration in bringing this vision to life.

A behind-the-scenes look at ESG’s Interior Design leadership.

Ann Fritz, Managing Principal, and Melissa Metzler, Principal, continue to lead ESG’s Interior Design practice and set its vision and direction. The team has grown over the years and they’ve recently named three Interior Design Directors to lead focused areas within it- Creative, Operations, and Project Performance.

Meet Megan, Maggie and Amy. With distinct perspectives and a strong understanding of the practice, they’re building on what’s been established and helping shape what comes next.

Megan Eckhoff, Interior Design Director- Creative

Megan brings inspiration, bold ideas and strong storytelling. She pushes our teams to discover new creative territories; elevating how we think, design, and work together. Megan brings influences from exploring new places and materials, turning discoveries into a fresh point of view.

Maggie Lafferty, Interior Design Director- Operations

Maggie leads the systems and processes behind the design. She navigates the complexity of people, projects and schedules. Maggie keeps workloads balanced and teams supported, while anticipating what’s ahead.

Amy Burkett, Interior Design Director- Project Performance

Amy drives connections between the creative and technical details of project delivery. She manages the development of strong documentation and oversees project performance. Amy delivers a balanced approach between design excellence, client relationships, and sustainable processes.
