📢 **Ohio RSN – Audio & Channel Updates**

🔊 **Loud Audio Issue – Resolved**

Earlier today, we upgraded our receiver software, which unfortunately introduced a bug that caused audio levels to be significantly louder than normal.

This evening, we reverted the software change, and **audio levels are now back to normal and sounding clear.**

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone's patience while we worked to identify and resolve the issue.

🔒 **Akron Fire Department Alert Channel**

We also want to provide an update regarding the Akron FD Alert channel. Unfortunately, this channel has now transitioned to encrypted radio communications, meaning we are no longer able to receive or stream its audio.

All previously recorded audio remains available in our system, and we will continue retaining historical recordings for up to **one year**.

Since the channel is no longer accessible, it has been removed from the channel toggle options.

It is with great sorrow that the Ohio State Highway Patrol announces the off-duty death of Sergeant Tyler Carr of the Mansfield Post, who passed away following a tragic traffic crash today.

Our thoughts are with Sergeant Carr's family, the Mansfield Post, the Bucyrus District and the Patrol family as a whole.

🚨 New ThinLine Radio App Update! 🚨

We’ve pushed another update to the scanner experience with a refreshed Scanner UI designed to make listening cleaner, faster, and easier to follow.

📻 What’s new:

* Completely updated scanner interface
* Cleaner Now Playing display
* Improved activity log so you can quickly see recent radio traffic
* Easier access to Pause, Replay, Skip, Avoid TG, Hold System, Hold Talkgroup, and Talkgroup Selection
* Better visibility of system, talkgroup, unit ID, frequency, listener count, and queue information
* Several audio playback bug fixes to improve reliability and help prevent issues with calls not playing correctly

📲 Already on the latest App Store version?
If you’re running the latest version from the App Store, this update will be automatically applied the next time you completely close and reopen the app — no additional App Store download should be needed.

We’re continuing to improve the app based on real-world use and feedback from our listeners. There’s still plenty more coming as we continue building out ThinLine Radio.

For those who don't know how to close an app on iOS (iPhone) here is a link on how to do so. We have received a lot of emails on people getting stuck on the update. This method of closing apps on your phone was introduced in 2017.

If an app won’t respond or seems frozen, you can close it, then open it again.

Posts like this really make all the long nights worth it.

I honestly couldn’t even begin to count the number of hours I’ve spent sitting behind a computer writing code, fixing bugs, testing changes, deploying new services, breaking things, fixing them again, and constantly trying to make ThinLine Radio better.

A lot of what goes into this project happens completely behind the scenes. Sometimes it’s weeks or months of work before anyone ever sees the result. ThinLine Radio has grown into something much bigger than I ever imagined, and seeing other scanner networks using the software, giving feedback, and recognizing the work that goes into it means a lot.

There is still a ton I want to accomplish, and I’m nowhere near finished.

Huge thank you to TSSN for the shoutout, and especially to every server operator, feed provider, tester, subscriber, and listener who continues to support ThinLine Radio.

Every bug report, suggestion, test, and even complaint helps move this project forward.

IMPORTANT: Please update ThinLine Radio

We've made some big improvements to audio playback and stability. To get them, you need to be on the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. This is a one-time step.

HOW TO UPDATE

iPhone / iPad:
1. Open the App Store
2. Tap your profile picture in the top right
3. Scroll down to see pending updates
4. Find ThinLine Radio and tap UPDATE

Android:
1. Open the Google Play Store
2. Tap your profile picture in the top right
3. Tap "Manage apps & device," then "Updates available"
4. Find ThinLine Radio and tap UPDATE

If you don't see it listed, search for ThinLine Radio in the store. If the button says OPEN instead of UPDATE, you're already up to date.

WHAT'S CHANGING GOING FORWARD

From here on, most of our updates will come to you directly inside the app instead of through the App Store or Google Play.

When an update is ready, you'll see a prompt in the app. Tap to download it, then fully close the app and reopen it to finish installing.

To fully close the app: swipe up from the bottom of your screen and swipe the ThinLine Radio window away, then tap the icon to reopen. Just backing out to your home screen isn't enough.

WHY WE'RE DOING THIS

Store updates can take days to get approved. Delivering updates in-app means we can push fixes out to you within hours instead. Occasionally a larger change will still require a full store update, and we'll post here when that happens.

🚨📡 Big things are happening at the **Ohio Radio Scanner Network!**

Today we completed a major antenna upgrade at our **Wadsworth location**, raising our receiving antenna to around **100 feet on the radio tower**! 🗼

We have already noticed an **amazing increase in signal strength and reception** since the upgrade, and we’re extremely excited about what this location is going to allow us to do moving forward.

We also can’t thank our **hosts at the Wadsworth location enough** for their continued support of Ohio RSN. Their support has given us the opportunity to build this location into something much bigger for the network. 🙌

This site will soon become our **second major Ohio RSN location** and will also serve as a **backup receiving location for other systems**, helping us improve reliability and redundancy across the network. 🔁📻

Up next is a **PC and receiver upgrade**, and once that is completed, we’ll have the ability to begin adding **more counties and additional coverage to Ohio RSN**. 🔥🗺️

We’re excited for what’s ahead. Stay tuned — the Wadsworth site is just getting started! 👀📡
