**Ohio RSN Network Update**

This evening, users may have noticed a brief service interruption while we deployed several fixes and monitoring improvements following today's earlier outage.

The good news is that this issue does **not appear to be related to Ohio RSN software, talkgroups, radios, or the network itself.** The problem appears to have been caused by the underlying operating system running on one of our servers.

In simple terms, think of it like the foundation under a house developing a crack. The house itself (Ohio RSN) was fine, but the foundation it was sitting on became unstable and caused everything above it to stop responding.

Some users may remember that we experienced a very similar issue previously. We have reverted the affected server to a known stable configuration, deployed additional monitoring, and are continuing to investigate the root cause to prevent future occurrences.

At this time, services have been restored and are operating normally.

🚨📻 ThinLine Radio — tone sets are starting to show up on their own.

🎉 Something we’ve wanted to build for a long time is finally rolling out: automatic tone set generation on channels that use tone detection.

🧪 Ohio RSN is slowly rolling it out and this is our first test, however it is available to all server operators. Keep an eye on your favorite channels in the app 👀 — you may start seeing new tone sets appear automatically as TLR learns paging patterns from live radio traffic. 📡⚡

🔍 We're watching things closely as this rolls out. If you notice anything that looks off — missed tones, incorrect labels, alerts acting strange, or anything else — let us know and we'll get it taken care of. 🛠️ Thanks for bearing with us while we iron out the details.

🚀 Another Major Milestone for ThinLine Radio 🚀

Today marks an exciting achievement as Alert Page officially transitions 335 Rdio Scanner Servers to ThinLine Radio Servers.

As part of this transition, we developed and deployed a new Central Management platform that provides Alert Page with a centralized way to manage users, monitor systems, and oversee all ThinLine Radio server connections from a single interface.

This new platform gives Alert Page greater visibility, scalability, and control as they continue to grow their services and infrastructure.

We're honored that Alert Page has chosen ThinLine Radio as their platform moving forward and are grateful for the opportunity to build solutions that support their mission.

This launch is just the beginning. We remain committed to working closely with the Alert Page team, delivering new features, enhancements, and ongoing improvements for years to come.

This may not look like much yet, but it's actually a huge step forward for ThinLine Radio.

The TLR community is beginning work on building a dedicated dataset to retrain a transcription model specifically for radio traffic. Our goal is to reach 5,000 hours of audio, with server administrators contributing recordings and helping manually review the transcriptions for accuracy.

The more data we collect and validate, the better the model becomes. That means more accurate transcriptions, better searchability, and more powerful tools for our community later this year.

What excites me most is that we're breaking new ground here. As far as I'm aware, we're the first group actively building a transcription dataset focused specifically on radio communications. Radio traffic is very different from normal speech, and creating a model that understands it properly requires a completely different approach.

This is one of those projects where the results won't happen overnight, but the work we're doing today will lay the foundation for something much bigger tomorrow.

🛰️ ThinLine Radio Push Notifications Are Now Faster and More Reliable

We’ve officially upgraded the ThinLine Radio push notification infrastructure to improve speed, reliability, and uptime for all users.

What changed:

• **3 Servers. 3 Regions.**
Our push notification system now runs simultaneously in New Jersey, Dallas, and Los Angeles for faster and more reliable notification delivery.

• **Automatic Failover**
If one notification server goes offline for maintenance, a data center outage, or connectivity issues, the remaining servers immediately take over. Notifications continue without interruption.

• **No More Single Point of Failure**
Alert delivery, scanner registrations, and notification handling are now replicated across all three locations in real time for maximum reliability.

• **Improved Reliability & Performance**
The new infrastructure allows us to perform maintenance and upgrades without interrupting notification delivery.

Why we made the change:

ThinLine Radio has continued to grow rapidly, and while there were no major issues with the previous system, we wanted to stay ahead of the game and eliminate the risk of a single data center outage or connectivity issue affecting notification delivery. This upgrade ensures faster, more dependable alerts as more agencies and listeners come on board.

No action is needed on your end — just keep using ThinLine Radio like normal.

Life has a way of pulling people in different directions after high school. Careers, families, responsibilities… before you know it, years pass and you realize you haven’t talked to someone nearly as much as you should have.

But there are certain people you never forget.

Todd McCormick was one of those friends who could randomly text you in the middle of the afternoon:
“Wanna go bowling?”
“Want to go to the range?”
“Let’s grab some Taco Bell.”

Just simple moments that end up meaning a lot more as time goes on.

Now Todd is fighting something a lot bigger. He’s been battling kidney disease his entire life and is currently in need of a kidney transplant. He recently became a husband and a father, and more than anything, he wants the chance to be there for his wife and daughter for all the years ahead.

I’m sharing this because sometimes helping someone starts with simply making sure their story reaches enough people.

As our company and others running servers on our platform is owned by first responders, we watched someone's business burn to the ground. It's not like we didn't try, this business was gone when dispatch received the call. Two of us drove by it on our way home from work, nothing was going on, no sign of anything 20 minutes prior. 10 minutes prior someone else drove by, still nothing. The call was received approximately 10 minutes later. A man who has worked to build something great over the course of years lost that in 10 minutes. I myself feel some of that pain. If we lost everything we have now, I would be devastated. What you see and use everyday started in 2020, thats 6 years of work. It's not about how much money you make. It's about your customers, your employees and the name you built. Don't let this man struggle, even if you can only donate $1.00. We all struggle with things everyday. No, money won't bring it back, but it will help repave the path for him, his family, employees, and customers who rely on him.
