Ellastic Designs, LLC. Graphic Designer - Marquayla Ellison Marquayla Ellison is the owner and creative force behind Ellastic Designs, LLC. and AIGA, a national design organization.

Her innate creative skills were enhanced at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (UWM) where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Design & Visual Communication from the Peck School of the Arts (PSOA) in 2013. After finding herself unsuccessful in securing internships to supplement her education during her freshman year, and with the amazing support of family and friends, Marquayla started Ellastic Designs, LLC a small design firm set on creating customs digital and print designs for small businesses, local philanthropic professionals, non-profits, and organizations. During the past five years, Ellastic Designs has illustrated a creative vision for many clients including The African American Chamber of Commerce (WI), Athena Communications, The Office of Small Business Development, Signature Dance Company, The Still Waters Collective, and 29Eleven – just to name a few. As a young creative professional, she sees the need for Milwaukee to amplify its goals of her clients by creating and consulting on ways to visually appeal to their targeted audiences. Marquayla has provided graphics for local conferences, social media campaigns, and fundraising opportunities. In addition to building her clientele list, Marquayla has gained an incomparable amount of experience and growth as a business owner. She values the opportunity to work, play, and visually enhance Milwaukee. Marquayla’s contributions to the city doesn’t end with providing creative service but she regularly gives back to the community as a board member for the Center for Teaching Entrepreneurship (CTE), Artworks for Milwaukee, and the UWM African American Alumni Chapter. She also entertains her social side as Board Member/ and Partner of Social X MKE, and serving on the Milwaukee Film Festival’s Black Lens Program Social Committee. She is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. When she’s not spending countless hours in front of the computer, Marquayla enjoys spending time with her hound, Bo, keeping up on current, vintage, and thrifted fashion, and tapping into her inner foodie at many of the city’s big and small restaurants.

Creativity is about more than making things look good. It’s about bringing people together and creating experiences that make an impact! šŸ’š

Through Ellastic Designs, LLC, I had the pleasure of serving as the event curator and lead for Game Plan for Life: A Men’s Health Gathering & Watch Party, an initiative of the Prostate Health Equity Project (PHEP).

From concept to ex*****on, I’m grateful for the creative ability to listen, understand a vision, and transform it into an engaging experience where people can connect, learn, grow, and have FUN!

And the impact speaks for itself! šŸˆ

šŸ‘šŸ¾ Over 60 attendees
šŸ’™ 40 participants in our health education activities
🩺 More than a dozen Black men received PSA blood tests onsite!

This is the kind of work that reminds me why I love what I do. Design goes beyond the visuals. It’s about storytelling, building community, and creating meaningful experiences that inspire action.

Thank you to the ProstateHealth Equity Project team, our community partners, and everyone who helped bring this vision to life! Photos taken by Medalia ✨

šŸ”„ 10 YEARS OF BATTLE OF THE CHEFS! ⭐

What a celebration! šŸ„‚ One of my favorite annual events, Battle of the Chefs, returned on Sunday for its 10th anniversary All-Starr Edition, and it was so special to be part of this milestone!

I’m incredibly proud to return as an All-Starr Circle Sponsor through Ellastic Designs, bringing my creative touch to the event through the visuals that helped bring this decade-long celebration to life! šŸŽØāœØ

There’s something truly rewarding about seeing my designs come to life beyond the screen, especially for an event that celebrates culinary excellence, creativity, and community right here in Milwaukee.

From the incredible chefs and mixologists to the delicious bites, friendly competition, and community impact benefiting Alice’s Garden Urban Farm, Battle of the Chefs continues to be an experience I look forward to every year!

A huge congratulations to Samantha Starr Events on 10 amazing years of bringing people together through food and community. Thank you for continuing to trust me with the creative vision and allowing Ellastic Designs to be part of the magic! šŸ’š

Cheers to 10 years and many more Samantha Starr Events ! šŸ„‚ā

Last night’s EWL Speaker Blitz was a great reminder of the power of using your voice and sharing your story.

As a member of the EWL Programming Committee, I was happy to help welcome attendees and then settle in to hear five women share five powerful stories in just five minutes each.

A few things I walked away with:

✨ Tell your story—you never know who it may impact or inspire to take action.

✨ Confidence is a rehearsal, not a personality trait. It’s something we can practice, prepare for and build.

✨ Separate what you do from who you are. Our titles may be part of our story, but they don’t define our entire identity.

Grateful to be part of the EWL community and Programming Committee and to help create spaces where women can find, strengthen and use their voices. šŸ’œ

šŸŽ Celebrating through design.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to help bring the work of Black Arts MKE MKE to life visually—from logos and show artwork to campaign graphics and designs supporting some of their signature productions and programs.

As a Black designer, there’s something especially meaningful about creating work that helps tell, promote and preserve stories centered on the Black experience.

So today, I’m opening the archives. āž”ļø Swipe through for a look at some of the creative work I’ve designed for Black Arts MKE over the years.

Black Theatre Day commemorates the opening of the African Grove Theatre on September 17, 1821, while celebrating and supporting the Black artists, theatres and institutions continuing that legacy today.

Proud to play a small creative role in helping that work be seen. šŸ–¤šŸŽ

šŸ¦‹ There’s something special about watching a brand—and a partnership—grow over time.

This weekend marked the 10th Annual JazzyRaĆ© Jewels DIVAS Brunch—and for the past eight years, Ellastic Designs, LLC has helped bring the event’s visual experience to life.

This year’s theme of rebirth and transformation inspired a butterfly-centered creative direction carried throughout the event.

Projects like this reflect the work I love most: building long-term partnerships and becoming a trusted creative resource that understands a client’s brand, vision and audience.

After 15 years in business, Ellastic Designs is making room for new organizations seeking contracted or ongoing creative support. If your team could use a creative partner, let’s connect.

Congratulations to JohnRaĆ© Stowers and the JazzyRaĆ© Jewels team on 10 incredible years! šŸ’ž

10 years later, and I’d still give myself the same advice. šŸ’™

With students heading back to school, I came across this Madison365 article from September 2016, ā€œBack To School: Pouring Love Into Black Students.ā€ I was asked what three things I would tell my middle school self.

My advice still holds:
🌱 Figure out who you are - Explore, try new things and plant seeds for your future.
šŸ“š Focus on what matters - Keep your education a priority.
ā³ Don’t rush life - Adulthood is coming either way. šŸ˜‚ Make memories and enjoy the season you’re in.

A decade later, I especially appreciate the reminder that "You don’t have to have it all figured out—you just have to keep planting seeds."

Take a look at the full article:

And while you’re there, consider supporting Madison365 and the important work they continue to do telling our stories and uplifting Black voices across Wisconsin.

Honored to serve as an Alumni Representative during UWM commencement this semester and help continue one of the university’s most meaningful traditions for the Class of 2026.

As incoming students, Panthers receive a gold coin to toss into the fountain — symbolizing their hopes, goals, and dreams for their college journey. At graduation, I was the alumni volunteer placing that coin back into their hands as a reminder that they are forever connected to the Panther community and the global network of UWM alumni šŸ’›šŸ–¤

It was an incredible experience celebrating alongside Chancellor Thomas Gibson, commencement speaker Clayborn Benson, fellow alumni, faculty, staff, families, and an amazing group of graduates.

Congratulations to the newest Panther alumni!

Last call for šŸ’›šŸ–¤

Today is the final day to give—and we’re so close.

As a proud alum of University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, I created a $250 Giving Challenge to support two scholarship funds that I personally care about:

✨ African Diaspora Council Scholarship Fund
✨ Design & Visual Communication Scholarship Fund

Once we reach $250 in donations, my $250 gift is unlocked—turning it into $500 supporting these students.

While I chose to give to these funds, you can also give to any area at UWM that reflects what mattered most to you.

Every amount counts—let’s finish strong.

Paving the Path of Possibilities for šŸ’›šŸ–¤

As a proud alum of , this one feels personal.

UWM helped shape who I am, and I’m forever grateful for those who poured into me along the way. In honor of Victoria Pryor and Adream Blair, I’ve committed a $250 Giving Challenge to support the scholarship funds that reflect their impact:

✨ African Diaspora Council Scholarship Fund
✨ Design & Visual Communication Scholarship Fund

If we can raise $250 by Tuesday April 14, my $250 gift will be unlocked—doubling what we’re able to give.

If UWM—or someone who believed in you—helped you along your journey, I hope you’ll consider giving back in whatever way you can.

Let’s show love, honor legacy, and pour into the next generation.
