MyMapbook's Guide to using the Marin Community Map Book on your cell phone:
Good news for Marin residents and visitors:
MyMapbook has published a free version of our beautiful Marin Community Map Book on a cell phone mapping app for you to use while driving, hiking and biking in Marin County. Over twenty people have already downloaded our maps. To use the map, please take these three steps:
• STEP ONE. Download the app
• STEP TWO. Open the app; select and download the Marin Community Map Book Bundle.
• STEP THREE. Take a hike. Track your route, place some points, take a photo. It's great fun.
STEP ONE DETAILS: How to Download the App.
It works on iOS and Android. On an I-phone go to the Apple store, and download Avenza Maps. Avenza Maps rates 4.7/5 or 94% which is a good rating. They claim
• Offline maps -- World's largest map store
• Locate yourself -- track anywhere (your blue dot location based on GPS)
• Mark the spot -- create, label and assign photos to points on the map
• Trace your steps -- track your route, pause, resume, stop tracking
• Download maps -- over 100,000 maps in Avenza Map Store

STEP TWO DETAILS: How to Download our Beautiful Maps
In Avenza Maps application ("app"), select import map. This gives you access to thousands of map in their inventory, so you can use the search box to locate the correct map.
We suggest you type "Marin County Community Map Book Bundle" in the search box and once it is found, select Download.
Please note that MyMapbook has many individual maps in the map store and the version we suggest is called the Marin Community Map Book Bundle. If you live in southern Marin you might also want the Tam Valley Community Map Book Bundle.
STEP THREE DETAILS: Using the maps
The most important function of the map app is to indicate your location on the map.
We suggest you confirm that the blue dot, which indicates your location per your phone's GPS reading, is in the correct location on the map.
There are 41 map pages (tiles) in the bundle. There are two ways to navigate to another map page. One way is to tap the key map diagram in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Another way is to pan forcefully north/south/east/ or west in the direction you wish to move.
